Gauguin painting becomes most expenisve work of art ever sold
longtimeman replied to Trash Magic's topic in World News
I'd love it if you went into detail about this -
You wouldn't say "(here's a photo of) the night that we met" unless you meant for the first time. 'Met' would never be used to mean "here's this night we met up for drinks" in this way unless it was specified. He may have meant something like "this was the first night we really hung out together", so although they might have 'met' before then, maybe that was the night they became friends.

Azealia Banks Not Okay With Gay Men Using the Word 'Bitch'
longtimeman replied to PARADIXO's topic in Music
But a lot of us hate people using any of those terms as a way of putting people down. I was called a faggot plenty of times when I was in high school and it hurt me a lot - not because of any issues around my actual sexuality, but because I was being associated with the lowest type of person in society - someone who wasn't a real man. But I at least had the comeback "fuck you - I'm not really a queer". Unfortunately, I now know there was at least one person also there who couldn't do that, and was being told by the group "that thing you actually are - which boils down to loving the wrong people - makes you actually worthless, so you better keep hiding it". It took me a while to realise this, and work out that I didn't become a more worthwhile person by calling other men I didn't like 'faggot', and it's why I cringe any time I hear the word. -
Is that a sarcastic smilie? lol I deserve nothing less, I suppose.

This would be where I belong I love almost all of the bands you mentioned, but I don't listen to much of it these days. I was a music snob punk/metal guy until I turned 30 and started listening mostly to pop (and then until about a year ago when all I listened to was LDR). I've been in prog metal bands when I was younger, and a kinda famous experimental band about fifteen years ago, but I'm not on any records. The past few weeks I've been cruising Youtube listening to early 80's thrash and Death metal demos. It's all sort of a guilty pleasure, but all good fun, yeah!

I've heard good stories about how he is as a person, so that is a good sign. I don't think anyone would have expected Lana to work with Dan A (and so successfully, imho), so this could be interesting. I'm off to check out some Muse records ... -

All true, imo, but he was outright defending himself from idiotic accusations that he was an abuser.

I like it. 'Call Me' has a kinda Lizzy/early Lana vibe.

Lyrically, I'd love for her to go deeper into the dark areas of her own persona, She's joked about it in KOL and Jealous Girl, & hinted at it in the last verse of Alone and in Get Drunk, but I want her to go deep. I think Sad Girl's also really misunderstood & underestimated and I'd love for her to explore the ideas from that song. Souindwise, perfect for me would be a mix of LDR & UV, meeting at songs like West Coast & Jump. -
Lana's Contribution Cut From Brian Wilson's Upcoming Album
longtimeman replied to Sitar's topic in Latest News
This sounds like a euphemism, but I'm not sure we'll ever find out for what. -
Before it leaked, were there rumours that this was the type of song we should expect, or was everyone as stunned as I was?
-
This is not a joke or metaphor. For the first six months I'd get the shakes if I couldn't listen to it.

You missed posting her Twitter background

It's been mentioned upthread, but I had a free afternoon yesterday and watched all of this It felt like it blew away lots of the cliches about her as a performer.

I remember a bunch of people at the time had this problem, and the only way to solve it was to cancel the order, and reorder it, which meant paying for the pre-released songs twice. ETA: eg this tweet https://twitter.com/LanaDReyOnline/status/478920344213155840 -

Bloodredjam/formerlanafan. I wouldn't be surprised if he's friends with User14.
