The name "The revenge of Lana Del Ley" is too good not to be used. She could use it as a title of a compilation with outtakes or greatest hits to celebrate idk, 20 years of BTD lol.
In this interview they know what they're saying

Oh god inspired by the last 18 months

so basically: her Ann powers meltdown, QFTC, the mesh mask, the Instagram post and the COCC cover and the Annie mac interview

good god this cycle will never end

I thought the country and folk covers are in 1 album?

Do you think 8 and 9 are her folk cover album and country cover album? I’m all for a covers album of various genres, but I would definitely look forward to original work more and I’m not sure how I would feel if I had to wait for Ldr10 to hear new music if that makes sense.

Folklore/Evermore is good in the realm of pop, but in the realm of indie, it’s pretty pedestrian. I love The National, and Aaron Dessner did not go very far creatively to produce this album.

Also, Cowboy Like Me, Miss Americana, The Last Great American Dynasty have lots of Lana lyrical influence

Hoping that reviews and feedback will encourage Lana to give trip-hop another chance

Lana’s take on country music will probably be a reflection of classic country, which will always be there, I don’t think any artists today are doing their takes on that. But we are straying further from the possibility of a 60’s style, Motown-adjacent a la Thunder

It’s interesting to see Lana’s PR strategy move towards trade publications for that “positive press.” She pretty much outright says how her career focus is on her “artistry”

I don’t blame her. I was recently looking through old album reviews, and she was a lightning rod for so many kinds of unearned criticism. But at times, I wonder what life would be like if Lana was embraced and on the cover of Elle whenever she had an album coming out.

sure, can put it around the sexism thing since I love all the other collabs. I think my reaction is outsized because it’s a small thing that I think if it were removed, it would’ve been perfect to me.

I don’t mean it to take autonomy away from Lana. I think it’s a poor decision on her part to do it, but it’s reflexive in me to not put the blame on her?

I meant it more of a reflection of how other artists like Lorde do very similar things—inserting Jack into their songs as if it’s a flourish, but it just feels like he’s interrupting a woman’s music.

The 18 months backup title thing made me think of rona and Grenadine Quarantine.
It probably isn't that, but I'm sure she thinks rona has lasted 18 months, so you never know
I feel like her secret plan or whatever might be a movie or documentary. My other thought was a residency but she doesn't like performing live enough to do that, and I doubt very much she'd like performing in the same place over and over.

“Initially I was a bit like, ‘There’s no strategy here!’” he laughs. “To my brain, I was like, ‘That’s not how you do things!’ But then you realise that’s how you do things if you’re Lana, and that’s what her fans love. It comes directly from her. You realise she’s right. She knows her audience better than anyone.”
