I'm about to go for a ride on my bike while listening to this... it's a gorgeous winter afternoon so I'm pretty excited. There are lots and lots of trees (especially pine trees!) where I live. <3

Solipsistic is the ungenerous way to describe VBBOTG because it sees introspection as an indulgence rather than a vulnerability.

It’s very revealing that she references the early criticism of her being fake and mentions herself as “Elizabeth Grant”, things that we know about but Lana rarely talks openly about. It’s about the closest we can get to her inner life.

I relate to Lana a fuck ton. Personally, my mother decided to give me up to my dad and that has left me a bit traumatized throughout my life. Lana felt like her mother abandoned her by sending her to boarding school. When Lana pleads about wanting to be a mother I understand every point, because when you grow up without a mother (for me & i’m assuming for Lana) you want to change the dynamic and not have to repeat the same curse for your own children. You want to be there and until you’re able to resolve and give the entirety of your love to a child that you wish was you, you will feel contempt.

Not pinning anyone against anyone but when Taylor literally rips lyrics off it’s almost disrespectful I mean “Vintage tee - dancing in your Levi’s - drunk under a street light - the sweatshirt you put me on and said I was your favourite - kiss in cars and downtown bars” This is straight up Lana Del Rey rhetoric it’s not just influence it’s a re-work and I can’t get behind that sorry

This is supposed to be a time of great joy and instead, our joy is tarnished because ACAB ugh

However, I'm going down with the fucking ship and remaining in denial.

I recently finished reading My Dark Vanessa

The author is a Lana fan confirmed. She made a playlist that is supposed to accompany the book’s scenes and she added 3 songs (hope, Off To The Races, Mariners). Imo she could’ve added Cinnamon Girl too

but basically if you dig around the author’s social media, she references Lana a lot

As a soft/delicate woman I always felt glad someone like Lana made it big. What she says is so relatable. It always seemed like there is only space for loud or outspoken people. If you aren't like that, you are perceived as weak and, especially as a woman, it is your duty to show that you are "strong" and impose yourself. This reminds me of what Susan Cain said in her TED Talk titled "The power of introverts".

God Lana is always on another planet with her takes and she willingly does not put her finger on the pulse with current events.

The timelessness of her stuff is one of my favorite parts about her but it’s hard to reconcile when she shows herself.

She’s kinda right that the internet freaks out too much though.
