In the IG live she basically confirmed that she had to put BB out cause she had stuff to explain and that it was the first album of hers that was made for the critics instead of for herself... so I think you are right.
 
BB as an "era" felt kinda lackluster (even though the music was still great) cause I feel all she wanted for that album was to put it out and move on so I think the next thing will be a proper big era (of course not BTD big but similar to NFR with abundant promotion for Lana's standards

I like how even though it is her birthday we are all expecting a gift for ourselves 

In the BB livestream at 1:20:50 she mentions the LFL trailer and how she wants one that "floats" with all the music she made recently. Lanita cannot focus though so I don't think she mentions it further.

With peace & love, surprise release/drop is just not Lana's thing—like I want new music as much as the next person, but it's just unrealistic.

lana can be so impulsive sometimes that insiders aren’t always aware of what she’s doing before she does it … see: lana posting the actual bb cover and boz saying it wasn’t even planned to be revealed then…. 
so it’s possible that last minute she decided to do something and the news hasn’t yet reached insider ears

no matter what the season is i’m manifesting her releasing this album when i’m (and all of you are) in a somewhat of a good content place .. aka i would like to not be severely depressed when it’s out !!

I just need her to tour and do small intimate venues and COME TO IRELAND she always serves here
 

This is the first year since 2016 where I haven’t felt too strongly about what direction the next album is going to go in. And the last time I felt that way before that was in 2013, before Ultraviolence - so I’m really loving the elusiveness of this pre-release period so far! It’s liberating to have no expectations for anything lol.
