Agree! And it’s a shame she isn’t too fond of the creative process she had going on with Dan. I think she said he pushed her too much and she didn’t find it helpful. But the results were A+.

Being a fan during that time was the best. I wasn’t too involved with the fandom like posting on here or anything but just the media that was coming out about her and the mystique and hype she had after Born To Die and especially West Coast was everything. She was truly the coolest most bad ass woman in music. Still is btw. UV will always be #1 in my heart. She captured true nostalgia which was felt then and 10x harder now.

Wow. It’s really crazy that it’s been 9 years. I feel so fucking old. I still remember listening to Brooklyn Baby on my headphones, walking down the street on a hot summer day. This music changed my life. Thank you so much Lana for giving me the soundtrack to my life and enlightening me through your music.

I spent that entire summer streaming this album, and playing Florida Kilos to DEATH. Wow what an album and what a moment that was. I wish I could experience listening to this album for the first time again.

Oh, I never followed Brooke that closely, outside of the hype from Das Me. I know she worked with Nicola for Opulence but I wasn’t interested in her.

I liked XXXTC though, and there were some good songs on the album. I think it’s pretty good party music. There are some duds tho, I liked Freak Like Me on first listen but it’s kind of unlistenable trash.

Is her work with RCA songs like Volcano, My Sex, etc? Yeah those songs were good

It’s sad because I see her getting down about herself on Twitter about her music career sometimes nnnnn. But it’s almost like what did you expect sis you made your image so sexual and one note for so long now. I think she could have been something but she was mismanaged or had little marketability.

Tbh, I think the divisiveness on NFR is wild to me. It's a really good album, one of her strongest to me. I'll admit, since 2021 I haven't used it like that, but I'm starting to get back into it lately. I think the change in her songwriting, and the big change from sound after LFL had some people shooketh. Still, I think an album like this was always a no brainer from Lana....I always expected her to go that route, same with COCC. That's why some criticisms for her last few albums genuinely shock me, because this was always where she was headed to me. I like that her music has matured and her approach is more subtle. The last few albums have given us a lot of beautiful moments from her that are very pleasing to me as a longtime fan. And DYK is probably up there with her best but it may be too soon to tell.

In no order, I believe her best albums are: BTD (cmon, it's a classic), UV, HM, NFR, DYK. I do consider Paradise essential listening as well. The sound of Cola, American, Ride, Gods & Monsters was such a moment.

Some spills! Can I reply? Cause this is fun lol.

Dark Paradise is pop perfection to me. It's that post-chorus leading into the bridge for me, she put crack in it. I think it meshes perfectly with the earlier songs on the album as well. Million Dollar Man and Carmen are a little forgettable for some reason, I don't know why that is, because I like both tracks, they're just not favorites. I did see a negative opinion about Million Dollar Man in this thread last night and went to listen to it and I still enjoyed it. I think the production is "classic Lana" and I still live for the vocals lol. Carmen has really pretty melodies too. I think the other tracks on BTD are just stronger.

24 is criminally underrated. That bridge? I can't. It and Swan Song both deserve more recognition, they are stellar tracks. The build ups are insane.

White Mustang has always been a favorite of mine. When I think of LFL it's one of the first tracks that come to mind still.

I honestly never had strong feelings towards NBAR when it leaked. I do like both versions though. I've used NFR version more just cause it's there, I like the lyric changes in the chorus, and I like that dancefloor type of sound in the chorus, or whatever you call that lol. Can't remember if it's in the demo or not.

Love BBS. Someone called it cringe, and I can see why, but I live for the rage. The verses are heavenly and then she loses it in the last couple minutes, it's great. I love Nectar of The Gods so much, it just sounds so soul aching to me. I do kind of hate the title, I wish she named it Wild on You or something.

Finally, Fishtail is a BOP sis! Please play it on an endless loop until you are convinced. There's crack in there.

Anyway I'm bored at work so I'll just drop a few unpopular opinions for each record

Born to Die is one of my favorite albums, but Million Dollar Man (ALBUM VERSION), Carmen and Dark Paradise are career lows. Blue Jeans is one of her best songs, I rarely see any love for it on this forum.

Bel Air is super overrated. I probably heard it like 20 times in my life.

The Other Woman is so good and I'm glad it went super viral some time ago. Deserved.

I never understood why people hate on "There's only 24 hours in a day." People always share that singular line as if there weren't a few other lines right after that that develop the idea she was going for.

White Mustang is top 3 on Lust for Life.

The Next Best American Record > Best American Record. I used to think the demo was better, until I revisited it and decided the album version was superior. Also Architecture I don't know if it's a fake title or not but it's terrible.

Chemtrails is her least replayable album ever, and I hope it never happens again lol. I do like the record, and I think it has some of her finest vocals and lyrics, but yeah.

Black Bathing Suit is super good. Nectar of the Gods is one of her worst songs. I cringe at the title alone.

Fishtail only bad song on Oceab Blvd.

LFL could have really been something, like Honeymoon's darker sister, but I appreciate the album for what it is and use often. Lana felt in touch here. I think the phrase she used to describe Honeymoon was a "vanity project", and I think she sacrificed that with LFL to serve the culture at that time. She made some beautiful songs out of her wanting to inspire hope and change with this album instead. I will always love and appreciate that about LFL, though it's not a perfect album, it's fun and quite thoughtful.

NFR might be overrated by a hair but I think it deserves the praise. She should make more songs with instrumentals like Mariners, VB, and The Greatest. That's why I loved Peppers and Taco Truck. That sounds just works so well with her.

COCC & BB are different stories. But I agree about Tulsa  So overrated, every other song on COCC is better than it.

I saw this opinion posted on a website and thought it was quite dramatic?

Lana has lost her edge. Her music and image is officially BORING. Her past 3 albums could have just been 1 album then she should have moved on from that sound.  For some reason her stans have deluded themselves into thinking its good.
  25. Pico Ocean Boulevard liked a post in a topic by HeyBlueBaby in Chemtrails Over the Country Club - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
wow well i saw this thread on the main page and i just thought i'd say the reception to this album was quite sad to witness i feel like lana has come a long way personally and artistically and this album pretty much sums all of that up (for me)

i dont know quite how to describe what i mean by that, i just think of chemtrails as an album where she was just living in the moment and was at peace. technical critiques aside and i almost never judge lana's work by any sort of technical standard either but i think chemtrails is a fine body of work as is though i think it could have benefitted from 2-4 more songs like an 11 track lana album just feels wrong but we're spoiled, and the shortness adds to its charm in a way so idk...

i go back to chemtrails quite a bit for wild at heart and dark but just a game, i adore both of those
and not all who wander are lust is a great track, very underrated, songs like this, tnc, ltli are all very similar to me and are some of her best work go stream

while the era was truly a huge letdown especially after nfr it was pandemic times and post-qftc so there were some factors working against it and shes already an artist who just puts it out there and moves on

all in all i look back at this album fondly all the mess aside the music itself is good, beautiful, and extremely serene.
subsequently, blue banisters also gets harsh critiques....i think there are some points to be made for that and its less upsetting for me to see bb shade. its majority unreleased and the rest are very beautiful tracks but lacked excitement

songs like violets for roses are beautiful, but listening it the first time just felt a little predictable
and thats not a bad thing either just saying

she did say this album was where she was where shes going where she whatever, so i take that into account with the fresh material off bb
still, bb is very enjoyable with some excellent songs i mean the whole album is great i think the weakest is beautiful but still enjoyable.
more than anything i would like a further explanation of bb and what the intention or thought was behind some decisions made for the tracklist

    theres my tangent
