i took a long scenic drive today and ocean blvd came on as i was driving through a tunnel and i started sobbing  the effect this woman’s music has on me is unmatched

From a lyrical perspective, I’m still stunned at how much growth Lana’s had as an artist in the past few years.

I mean, Lana has always peppered in pop culture references in her work, but I find TUOB’s (such as with Hotel California and Nilsson’s Don’t Forget Me) to be almost necessary additions to the song. They aren’t just nods to similar themes or musical interests of hers: they’re irreplaceable elements of the track.

Similarly, while Lana’s certainly no stranger to immersing her listeners in sensory details, her describing of, “Mosaic ceilings, painted tiles on the wall,” not only provides the visual landscape of the track, but it also serves as an intentional device to compare the tunnel’s rich inner existence to her own.

Even in a broader sense, the lyricism is incredibly original and largely strays from cliches while still managing to be relatable in a work full of hyper-specificities.

She is seriously in a league of her own!

Blue Banisters is actually a masterpiece in my opinion, if you can put the unreleased and outtakes aside (which tbf is something only the die hard fans would be aware of) and just look at it as a full body of work, it's seriously beautiful and it deserves more respect

Yup, the album is very much giving undertones of deep sensuality, existential longing, and vulnerability with the bedroom as its central location that is a psychic representation of her inner most thoughts

So the concept of the album is her bedroom, with which Lana tries to make the relationship with her listeners even more intimate.  She asks direct questions, is half naked, shows her breasts (even if only as a drawing). Many of her selfies from this year now make more sense. Even her private Honeymoon account established a more intimate relationship with her fans, so maybe that already served as preparation for the new album.

The concept of the album and what it promises looks too good not to promote it, I really wish she would go on interviews like she did with Norman.

It's amazing how none of these on the list seem to be long to listen to. I don't feel all this time go by. They are so complete.
Knowing that ldr9 will have many long tracks is reassuring. I know it won't be only pianos running for 7 minutes.

lanaboards: is lana going to quit music after this album?

lana: is already planning out the concepts for ldr10, ldr11, ldr12, and ldr13

Lana won't ever quit music like even if she wanted to, she'd accidentally go to the studio out of habit and record something and release it

I don't think she would even take a long break between albums cause she loves her job and since she's almost in full control of her career she can just focus on the music aspect and leave all the other aspects that seem stressful to her aside

The way this album is going to knock off quite a few tracks from this list  Fingertips already knocked off White Dress

I think I just need one more single in January to get a clearer vision about the album, and then i'll make it to March 10th no problem. As torturous as NFR's rollout was, I survived on MAC/Venice Bitch for months because they are excellent; just like the title track for this record. Now it just needs its companion (Fingertips or Candy Necklace)

Like @The Stargirl Pinky mentioned above, the song gets better with each listen

BOZ said that it's her most confessional and vulnerable album to date. He also described it as "the diary of a lost girl looking for guidance", so I think that this will definitely be her rawest and most personal work to date. The album photoshoot makes a lot of sense. It's an invitation to her most private place - her bedroom (my bedroom is a sacred place now), - where she can express herself freely. Didn't she call the album "conversational" back in May? The title itself initiates a conversation with the listener, and its strong visual metaphor implies that this will be a deep exploration of her inner thoughts. The oversaturated photos of flowers, ocean waves and industrial spaces create a rather unhinged and ambivalent atmosphere as if everything has been contaminated through a dreamlike (or even nightmarish) vision. Even the covers for the mint and light pink vinyl variants toy with this artificial aspect - the clash between reality and fiction - with the colour Neil added to Lana's clothes/eyes etc. It all feels very intentional and carefully thought-out, I think.

that’s one of my favorite things about this track. It’s the best aspects of their production in one track, it’s really great

the way some of y'all seem to WANT her to quit music with how much you bring up this nonsensical discourse every era... go back to vinyl colours and tarot readings PLEASE and leave the most prolific artist of our generation ALONE

I'm listening to "Religion" right after "Yosemite," and I just got the chills thinking about how we are about to receive an album with a majority of the tracks being the length of these two masterpieces or longer

There's something about Lana's songs that are over 5 minutes.

Welcome! What a wonderful first post.
This is something I think about a lot, and I am very grateful to be experiencing the evolution of her music with all of you. She is undeniably one of the last great American singer-songwriters out there, and like you've already mentioned, the waves of her impact are already being felt.

I remember the first day I discovered her when I listened to Video Games for the first time, before BTD even came out. It was right then and there that I knew she was going to be one of the greats of our generation. The new record is going to be out of this world if it's anything like the title track + album descriptions. She had a vision, and never compromised for anyone.

I feel that Lana's music will become more and more meaningful as time goes by. I know she has this concern about being forgotten, but she definitely won't be. Just see the new generation discovering all of her discography so far. Later generations will also rediscover it, so it goes...
And, along with the changes and general contexts of the world, each album will be able to have a new meaning and become even more valuable. Remember when BTD on its release was just considered "bad influence music for young girls" and is now recognized as the most influential pop album in the music industry in that decade?
It makes me think, "What about Blue Banisters? What about Chemtrails? Btw, what about Did... Ocean Blvd? What about everything we're seeing firsthand today?"
Guys, ten years is a long time! We're already experiencing the longevity of Lana's work now. She has songs from 10 years ago going viral on modern social media.
What will become of Lana Del Rey?
    Everything but an abandoned tunnel.

Hello guys. I'm new to the site. Hope it's fun.
