I like Taylor, I LOVE Reputation and I 100% agree, something similar but adapted to Lana would be amazing. I'm thinking of vintage Life or Playboy inspo Basically I need much more printed materials for this era, and by this I don't mean a vaguely updated, still full of typos lyrics book. But something like the Paradise tour book 1000x power could be fucking amazing. I actually rly liked it, it felt more produced than anything else

Damn. I found this thread almost a year later. Lana fans not on Lana Boards are losers and deserve nothing good in the world. I felt this way before and even more now. My truth is that gatekeeping is completely valid. If you haven't spent hours downloading & obsessing over unreleased tracks and organizing them by recording dates, or spent sleepless nights considering the enigma that was Lizzy Grant, or shared Google Docs/Spreadsheets about the lore, or know about u/Hotsummerlilac, etc. you don't deserve rights!

Update on this post, it appears she did! I looked through the designer’s TikTok, and the SLUT necklace can be seen in a video she posted of her booth at MLP on August 28th, which was a day Lana was spotted there! It seems she bought the one shown in the video! x
 

So cool that she chose a small business to create them! I saw in their Instagram bio that they sell at Melrose Trading Post on Sundays, and Lana is known to visit there from time to time. I wonder if she met them in person, liked their product, and then reached back out to have them design this piece for her own merch. I’m thinking they may have also designed the SLUT necklace she was wearing last year, so maybe Lana had picked it up at the Post and then got her inspiration for the A&W necklace x

Honestly love that Lana and her team supported this small business rather than some trash made in China. Kinda wish I had bought one now!  

Her clan and my clan were allies against this other clan, although it seems like mine liked to fight way more than hers did.

Some things never change. 

I think if you care that much about not wanting storylines then Melanie will never please you. It seems like it’s what keeps her passionate about making music. I think the reincarnation story is a good middle ground to please both fans who still love Cry Baby and the ones who want to move on. It’s just her consciousness in another body and I doubt it will really make a big difference that it’s her “soul” but probably just something to make the huge change hit less harder for the long time fans. 
 
I’m personally fine with the storylines as long as she doesn’t restrict herself to such strict themes like she did with K-12. The Cry Baby story was fine because there was so much to work with. 

You know, it's funny you say that - tangental *it's about me* moment - that's part of why Cry Baby hit me hard. VERY specifically Dollhouse. That was my family, on a surface level. I had the parents covering shit up. I had the cheating Dad. I had the sibling who was dabbling in drugs. I had to be the "role model" child. Parents went from being literal millionaires to not being able to pay the light bill and using the laundromat because of their own dumbassery, but whipping us kids to "keep up appearances" and just swallow our issues. Like that song just *got* me, and the albums concept of a troubled childhood just sunk right in like lotion on dry skin.

I will say this of it all; it was ambitious.

And, if I'm going to be human, not all projects and ideas pan out in reality to their concepts, and not all projects are going to get universal acclaim from critics or fans, so.

I'm happy to chalk that up to the 'Sophomore Slump', and see what she does now that she's lifted Grimes's aesthetic for this next album cover.

Hate is literally the weakest word in existence for my take on that album. And I say that as someone who was hyped for it. Waiting for it. Had popcorn and everything for the whole long-ass debut of the album-movie on YouTube.

After sitting through it, I suddenly understood why every single review and news article for it from that time kept mentioning the 6 mil price tag attached to it; they were trying to justify that it was good because of what it cost.

I have nothing constructive to say on that album. This comment is as civil as I can be. Everything else is a primordial surge of frustration and anger riding on the expectations I had of her on Crybaby.

I want this next album to recoup some of that energy I had for her and grow it into something warm and adoring again. Desperately wanting it.

I got the boxset with the black hoodie... or so I thought. When I checked the confirmation order email and my bank statement it said I bought the boxset with the black shirt. I've cancelled the order. Once I revisited the boxsets to see what was inside, it turns out the boxset is just the shirt/hoodie and the standard cd in a fancy box. Bullshit. I got ahead of myself and figured it'd be something like all the previous boxsets. I have a feeling more stuff will be announced between now and March 24th, so I'm going to wait.

i'm an english graduate so imma give you a few pointers on academic writing (i can't sleep and got nothing better to do)
i'm writing this to genuinely help you with your course, not to make fun of you or anything
who? name a media outlet or a critic who has accused the title track; if your essay is based on opposing these allegations, you must be more clear on who has made these allegations and for which reason. "many people" doesn't tell the reader anything. you need specific examples (which is the reoccurring issue in the essay)
absolutely not. your argument in an essay cannot be that you have common sense. delete. your viewpoint needs to be supported by factual arguments and evidence, it can't be "just trust me bro"
i love how you say this and then proceed to provide no background for the song at all the background would provide us with info about the era of her career and the topics she dealt with at that time of the song release, other related media such as the song's music video and other songs from the album and her opus that are correlated to lana's songwriting in Ultraviolence, and then more specific who is she singing about in the song etc.
you cannot analyze a lyrics and not provide any examples. You should have copied a few lines and said "in this line it's evident that she' talking about this and that." you need to imagine that this is going to be read by someone who never heard the song so all this would mean nothing to an average reader (and that's one of the important aspects of academic writing when it comes to topics like this - you always have to assume the reader does not know anything about the matter, in other words, you need to spell everything out and be as specific as possible) . For example, Lana Del Rey opens the song by saying that her lover used to call her a deadly nightshade. This implies this and that (and in this part you argue how this line supports you view)... I know this sound very dumbed-down, but this is an academic way of presenting information. evidence (example) spelled out + analysis
the part with "they serve as a cautionary tale" is very interesting and i wish you actually showed us how exactly and in which lines is the song a cautionary tale. that would have been an amazing argument, i love the expression cautionary tale, great job with that
girl what is the message? you mention it twice and you're defending the message without even telling us what is the message of the song
 
you could have gone so much deeper into explaining how does the song not romanticize abuse and toxic relationships. even to me it's unclear how exactly how argued that it does not. because you basically expressed you general opinion and the feeling you get when you listen to the song, but you didn't make any strong arguments. in which part of the song or in which line can we see that Lana's not romanticizing abuse? How can you prove that she's singing from a perspective of someone who's aware of the danger of toxic love and not from the perspective of someone who's lost in it or enjoying it?
no shade to lana, but how? again, you need to prove this. how does the lyrical style show her talent? what lyrical devices did she use? what words or lines can be felt strongly by the listener and why? what about storytelling?
 
in conclusion, you have a great way with words and it all looks nice. I have zero notes for the language and writing style, A+  for that. however, the content is an issue. you need to be so much more specific. provide examples, have clear arguments, go into depth and take us there. your essay is very very general, very subjective, and it doesn't say too much of something specific and it doesn't really help the reader learn something new or make him/her think about the topic
