Rock Candy

Had a cute moment with this album at work: before we opened today, the manager asked if she could turn off the overhead so we could listen to Billie’s new record. I told her yes because I was literally listening to Chihiro with my earbuds, and my coworker took out his set to say yes, because he was listening to Birds of a Feather  Haven’t had an organic moment like that with a record before, it was lovely! 
 
I wish I liked this project as a whole a bit more, but the songs that hit are so damn good. 

I hope she gets cancelled soon, so we get Rep TV asap

omg i forgot abt the worst one- on my first listen of loml i heard "a condom sells a fool, a get love quick scheme"... and it doesn't help that the next line is "i felt a hole" 

I’m so jealous, Quavo teases a new song, teases the video shoot, and is now releasing the song in 2 days like.

we got that snippet of Tough two weeks ago, and Lana hasn’t said a single thing about it and we’re completely in the dark 
 
thank god for Wally spilling about the video and Quavo saying it’s coming “next 🤫” 

LOVE the extended of l'amour BUT can she like... drop a version that has the entire basically 10 min song so i can just sneak it in the album.... thank u billie...... love u

Bittersuite has like 3 songs in one..my god it's so good  i wish the first part lasted a little more though

NFR is being placed on best albums of all time lists as we speak despite only being like 5 years old. There is a reason for that and we will be lucky if Lasso comes anywhere near that level.

But it still wouldn’t shock me if there was a collab on a sister record, however they don’t sound like they are ready to get into the studio together just yet. I think in a few years we will finally get the collab, right now I think they are focused on their own paths (Lana saying that their careers feel like collabs kinda makes me think this)

there are rumours that Billie is releasing a follow up record to HMHAS in July(?) with a red theme (as opposed to the blue of HMHAS)

Pitchfork gave HMHAS 6.8  It’s getting harder and harder to take this media seriously, they pretty much rank female albums very low 
and Apple Music named WWAFAWDWG? the 30th best album of all times?!? I mean, it’s good, an incredible debut but in the top 30 of the best albums of all times? 

I love that it's 10 songs and they're all good and the album feels cohesive and complete.
 
Obviously if there's more to come i'm happy to take it.

1. Wildflower 10/10 - Love it, it's just so beautiful, nothing I would change about it. That outro>>>
2. Birds Of A Feather 10/10 - I'm a sucker for a sappy love song, I love the 90s-00s vibes on this, just such a banger! It sounds like a sunny day.
3. Skinny 9/10 - A great way to start the album, the lyrics are so heart wrenching. The production is so gorgeous and subtle.
4. Lunch 8.5/10 - I love this song!! It reminds me of "bad idea right?" by OR in the best way. I wish she'd lean in to this pop rock vibe more
5. Chihiro 8.5/10 Great song, maybe a tad too long, but it's def a vibe. I love the mini switch ups, and the production is just so great. 
6. L 'Amour De Ma Vie 8.3/10 - This is a cool one. The first part is very Laufey, which I love. The second part is video-gamey, electronic, which isn't as good as the first part, but I still enjoy it!
7. Blue 8.2/10 - I love the first part of this song, (True Blue) I feel like it's almost too short. The second part is nice too, but I almost get lost in it. I like the beat switch up, it reminds me of NDA
8. The Greatest 8/10 - This is a pretty good ballad, but it doesn't grab me like the other ones.  I like the rock outro, but that part is so short, that it doesn't feel like the buildup is worth it.
9. Bittersuite 7.8/10 - This one is growing on me, but it hasn't yet. I can't decide which part of the song I prefer, I do agree that the switchups on this album are hit or miss. I love the riff of True Blue at the end, and the transition to that song.
10. The Diner 7/10 - This one isn't rly my vibe, but hey, it might grow on me by Halloween. It feels very much like her debut, which isn't an album I care for that much.
 
 
Overall, this is a really strong record, and I'd give it a 8.5/10. It's most certainly a contender for my personal AOTY, and I sure wouldn't be mad if it won at the Grammys!
 

love love love birds of a feather but the overplaying is high-key making it lower in my ranking,, bittersuite is an underrated bop though

Only song I don’t really like is birds of a a feather, it’s feels kinda cringe, but I love the rest of the album
