i know negativity shouts louder than positive comments and she probably pays more attention to the negative stuff but DAMN MA you cant think ppl hate your work so much  still not over her thinking we hate the upbeat OB tracks

I'm not reading too much into the interview, I think she just doesn't want to talk about Lasso in advance until it's time to roll it out. I also don't think she's worried about trendhopping, she literally said the music industry is going country so she obviously knew a bunch of big releases this year would be country. She probably said that to get ahead of it and show that she isn't just following the trend and has been working on a country album for years.
 
I have a feeling Lasso is still on track and she just doesn't want to discuss it right now.

it should just be expected at this point that whenever Lana announces something it will eventually be changed to something else 

Maybe she meant "What can I say now," as if she's talking to herself, saying "I'm so frustrated that so many artists are announcing country albums that I just don't know what to say to you about Lasso at this moment."  
 
What other artists are doing should make no difference. She's Lana Fucking Del Rey, having some of her best years ever, who cares if others are releasing country albums or if there is an actual trend in play, however it came about?
 
Releasing a country album is not an original idea in and of itself; it's one of the most recognizable and oldest of all American genres.   
 
So with luck, Lasso will be released on schedule. 

Honestly, this whole "the music business is going country, we're going country" thing was kind of strange because other big artists like Taylor or Billie didn't care and they're still topping the charts. Lana should just do her own thing and ignore what may or may not be trendy at the moment.

We're getting a little over ourselves here... Lana did hint at this album being more simpler in terms of lyricism back in that Hollywood Reporter interview last year I believe - i guess we could speculate parts of the album were decided by then. I think the album is still being fiddled around with just like with NFR! when it was originally supposed to have 11 tracks, like maybe Tough is an addition to the album and we'll need to wait for further confirmation. Also I don't think Lana cares that much if she's being seen as someone copying them and at the end of the day she's gonna deliver a much different take on the genre. All and all to me this is just confirmation that she's still changing things with the album which isn't always bad news 

I have no idea what this all means exactly but to be fair she's so chaotic she could do an interview like that then release a single for the album the next day like you never really do know with her

listening to lana when i was so young definitely shaped me a lot as a person to love art and live freely
 
the main attachment i have to lana is that i was in a pretty bad relationship during my teens and ultraviolence specifically really comforted me both during and afterwards, and helped me actually understand and then begin to vocalise my emotions surrounding it and him, which was at the time the only songs i really had heard in that vein except for like amy winehouse. i think ultraviolence is a really important album for that reason because i went through about 5 stages of thinking i understood the album before i feel like i really did (at least for me as everyone is different) and i don’t think that awareness is really spread to young girls like it should be in a truly honest way
 
i also was so impacted by violets bent backwards over the grass. i find that i relate to her thought streams so much and everything she says is so validating and so beautiful. she has always given me such a strong comfort in life being beautiful in all stages and i think that is my main takeback from her
