Ok in get free she says “out of the black into the blue” like it’s a positive thing. Like she’s becoming happier. But during Coachella she literally goes from blue to black in outfit changes meaning a return to her darker mindset. The intro song (My My, Hey Hey-Neil Diamond) also says “out of the blue into the black” and talks about basically going hard instead of fizzling out. The hologram cage interlude talked about women being mothers or virgins and how those are the only acceptable choices in society. But then goes on to talk about sensuality and creativity and not being caged by just the two choices of virgin or mother. She’s mused a lot about motherhood especially in Ocean Blvd and I think this could all point to her giving up having kids and just focusing on her career, her art. Also the ending where she’s carried out felt like a funeral instead of the usual psych ward vibe, then she’s almost reborn into a new era that is just for her. Of course this could all just me being tired af and unhinged.

it's like I mentioned before, the core of this performance is in qftc and the consequences of fame theme she's been touching on the last albums. I definitely think she sent a message there too and it made me think she flipped the meaning to talk directly to the fans and the media, it makes total sense as an opener when you see it that way.

I loved her Bartender performance, she's doing so well this week. Do we have any download links to her performance yet? I'm just watching the replay on YouTube rn

I feel like the true core and concept of these shows at coachella is qftc + the fame consequences theme she's been exploring in the last albums. she managed to translate all of the points she made in the letter and her latest lyrics into the show. I just read it again and literally everything she's said in the letter is there, especially last night's performance.
the setlist could've still been different bc she has multiple songs that touches on the themes she wants to convey, but I still consider these as one of the best performances of her career (in some ways they're the best ones for sure)
