all i want is something so interesting it doesn't even have to be good it just has to be INTERESTING. part of the allure of some of her old stuff for me isn't that it's the best music i've ever heard but it's just so so so interesting and fascinating

so many songs on COCC/NFR are WONDERFUL but are just SLIGHTLY less interesting to me. maybe it's the lack of bridges on NFR or jack's production alsk;gdjbhrstdgfv he's fine im kidding but yes bring back the chaos the wildness.... get wild

God I know it's not 2013 anymore but I would love some lyrics like Gods and Monsters or Fucked My Way Up To The Top. I think I am going to set myself to disappointment and wait for something of that nature

same with the dance till we die bridge, it was a glimpse into the return of a passionate style of singing (not that shes not passionate now) and a lot of ppl loved it

As long as it isn’t an album of slow piano ballads I don’t care if it’s trap or whatever.  White Dress and Hope are beautiful but I miss the energy in her songs...it’s why Dark Is Just a Game is a fan favourite we CRAVE more.

Right I cannot pretend to like another ballad, I physically don’t have it in me anymore

I think the one thing Lana really needs to address on this album is the one question she has never really given her listeners a direct answer to, which is weather or not she is a candle in the wind.
I feel like its always asked by the fans, critics, and casual listeners, and Lana has never seemed to even bring it up in her music. This would be the perfect album for her to give a solid response.

I hope she doesn't say "candle in the wind" in this record. It's not pleasant to hear or visualize

someone should mail her theory or like the next time someone meets her just slip it to her.... like marxist feminist theory and good, interesting, educational books/theory about racism in america or globally... let's radicalize her

Yeah I agree with what you’re saying. Like you said she was quiet about political issues for a long time and that was in her interest. I was happy that she was here for the music (which she’s amazing at) and that’s it. I’m not here for my favourite singers starting to talk about politics cause that’s often when they get problematic.
I kind of respected her and liked her because of how honest her lyrics were regarding her experiences of abuse especially during ultraviolence. I never thought she was necessarily glamorising these issues. She made sadness an acceptable and powerful topic to talk about and normalised it in her songwriting in beautiful ways.
You’re absolutely right when saying that she has done cultural appropriation before (the Native American head dress in the Ride video is the one I can mostly remember). It’s a shame she gets so defensive about everything on social media. Instead of posting some of the great reviews which have come out in the last few days about the album (and again the vast majority of them are praising it so much) she chooses once again to focus on the negative.
She just needs to keep talking about her sad melancholic glamorous life in her songs and stop engaging with the critics in the way that she does. And also listen to POC saying they got offended by some of her comments.

I feel like as a BIPOC I have to say that for someone who is so misunderstood, she literally makes no effort to actually even be understood. Lately whenever she feels the need to make a statement on something, she uses unclear language that's tone deaf and filled with microagressions. She needs to sit down, throw away her phone and open up a book. You don't get a pass throwing money at the problem. You need to actually educate yourself not expect others to do the educating for you.

She was always been (quietly) problematic (but now loudly), and she's done some pretty blatant cultural appropriation, I don't know how someone wouldn't see it if they've seen her music videos or her mannerisms. She doesn't do it that bad anymore but it's still there without her realising.
I think the years of being silent boiled up and now she won't let it go and that's really bad for her.

Definitely agree that her previous political statements made her 'clean', but she really wasn't clear enough and that's made non-stans get confused recently. I don't blame them for thinking she's a trump apologist because she literally said those things. Us stans just had to know her previous statements to get it. I mean, one of the first times she dissed trump was in a cryptic tweet telling us to search ingredients for a global hexing. How were the non-stans supposed to know?

She was so close to being as woke as she thinks she is, honestly, but she just went down the wrong path recently. Instead of taking accountability she's just blocking out all criticism as hate and only hate. And now she thinks the problem is other women and therefore can't be a feminist because she's been kicked out or something.
Btw this is not all in response to only your post. Just spilling some extra thoughts!

something about white gays saying that what she said wasn't racist to POC always hit me the wrong way

Lana recieves a lot of unfair hate and crticism and some music "journalists" seem to love to bash her for the sake of it.  Some articles are so disgsating to read, you instantly notice that the author just wajted to hate on her for her looks or a lyric on BtD, and did not even listen to the new music once.

On the other hand she seems to like her role as a victim as she does everything to reinforce it. And with all the bs she did during the CoCc era, she shouldn't be suprised. 50% of the album promo was her doing weird and "controversial" stuff that wasn't even related to the music. And this "lashing out" on social media has lost all its charme since like 2012.

the article was 2 months ago lol. it really seemed like she waited until the album was out so she could attack the author without her managers or her label being angry with the bad press right before an album release. sis couldn’t even wait one week.

I stan myself and only myself.
I assume you're too young to understand.
Once you reach an age, you just enjoy the music, but defend the person who sings my favorite songs? Nope. Teenagers do that, not grown ass people.

The album announcement feels like something out of spite and not very verified of feasibility. I don’t know what happened to her Saturday lol.

Long story short: Lana has issues and can't take criticism

Some of her friends did seemingly ditch her, though.
    Marina. Twigs. Ariana. Kehlani.
I'm not commenting on her character but there's no denying sis has made some very ignorant comments over the past year. The way each individual friend responded to it isn't really a good gauge because there are so many unknowns.
Anyway, I'm glad she deleted the story because this should be a happy time for her and she shouldn't be focussing on stuff like that.

Many of the people criticising her are POC. We, as white people, don't get to dismiss their feelings or her remarks on the basis of her good intentions.
