His work on BTD represents a solid 90% of his entire portfolio (past, present and future), so...

Just wanted to share this info from yet another great Emile interview that he tweeted about yesterday. Taken from an interview with Tidal. com http://read.tidalhifi.com/article/album-of-the-week-emile-haynie/

Who has been one of your favorite artists to work with?
Lana is one of my favorites. She’s such a special friend to me and we just get each other.
Andrew Wyatt from Miike Snow was a massive contributor to my album and is one of my favorite people to work with as well. We’re friends first. He knew what every lyric meant the second I showed them to him because we talk about this kind of stuff naturally. On top of that he is incredibly talented. His background vocals are on so many of the tunes and exactly the kind of sound I’ve had in my head for years.
What of your past work are you most proud of?
I love Lana’s first album. I love some of the stuff I did with Kid Cudi on his first couple projects. I love working with Eminem. Him and his crew in Detroit were such a huge part of the beginning of my career, I’m super proud to be a part of his albums these days.

  16. TRENCH liked a post in a topic by graham4anything in Lana's staying power
Lana has done something I can't recall any female singer has ever done, and I have been listening to music since the early 1960s.
What female artist in history has written so much and sung so much?
Aretha has songs written for her.
Petula Clark sang other peoples songs.
    Mama Cass-sang others
Janis Joplin- sang others (Me and Bobby McGee was written by Kris Kristofferson).
others have burnt out or died or have one or two albums, but then go years of nothing.

Anyone who knew of her older songs then and now, it is clear they are her words, her ideas, her thoughts and while others may change a word, tidy up a lyric, I would say 90% is hers.
Much like Leonard Cohen, Lana is a poet first, a writer, a visual artist.
Much like Brian Wilson, the recording studio is more important than putting on a show. Old school. Singing direct to audience. One doesn't need bells and whistles.
The legendary artists of all time didn't do anything but stand at the microphone and sing.
Edith Piaf, Sinatra, Orbison, the Beatles(who also didn't do very many shows), Brian Wilson, Elton basically at the piano.

Speaking of Elton, Elton only does the music, Bernie the words. Lana does words and music.

I think like Elton, like Brian Wilson, if Lana wants to, she can be around for 60 years and her music will live on.
I don't think it is an exaggeration to think that when the time comes, Lana will be in the Hall of Fame.
(If only she could get to induct Lou Reed).

And Lana is doing it her own way. She is not playing the normal game.  What are there about 300 different songs already, most unreleased, something a Bruce Springsteen or the Grateful Dead did,
all these rarieties. (We are lucky to have them on youtube). And not a bad one in the bunch.

She already has 3 Top 10 albums. (check the chart records, one can count the relatively few female singers on the US album charts that have had 3 Top 10 albums, and Honeymoon will be the 4th.
And without  a real hit single either nor looking for any radio airplay (and not needing it)..

I am looking forward to Honeymoon, and anything else released. Do wish the Brian Wilson duet had happened, that would have been a good grammy entry next year, but others will come.

If this was 1967-8-9, Lana would have had 10 number one songs on stations like WABC, New York and KHJ California.

As said above, the Hall of Fame in a couple of decades, the Songwriting Hall of fame, etc.
And it wouldn't surprise me if there will be an Oscar for producing a short film. (An Oscar is an Oscar, no matter what category).

I don't know if I'm reading too into it, but all these painting references in her photos (the filter on her last photo, her new IG icon, etc) I really hope it's a part of a larger visual vision. Can't wait to find out.
  19. TRENCH liked a post in a topic by whitman in Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth criticizes Lana in memoir
She just called Lana's music 'boring' in a Billlboard interview:

"With Lana Del Rey, it's all wondering what her persona is. She's interesting because she uses self-destruction as the next step in sexuality and self-branding. I just think her music is kind of boring."

But this particularly quote it's quite interesting:

"And I didn't want to write about Courtney; that was something my editor was interested in".

Which leads us to the very suspicious differences between Pitchfork's quote and the one published on the book. Adding her attitude towards all this ( tweeting stuff just for the show of attention) and the media coverage she got after this I'm pretty sure this is her way to sell books.

I don't know who Kim is (and I don't care to find out at this point), but the bottom line is that that was a horrible, disgusting thing to say about ANY woman or person in general. If she said that about anyone else, I would still feel the same way. Picking on a girl who, in my opinion, has made herself very vulnerable to the press, is just a low-blow. I feel like at this point, people are dogging on her because they know they can without any serious backlash, and it's very sad to me.

What a petty thing to do. I feel bad for both of them for different reasons.

While I share your outrage at atrocities like this and would condemn them wherever they take place, I find it rather selective. Many innocents have died gruesome deaths, yes, even being burned to death, as a result of Western intervention in Muslim countries. Many Western nations have also tortured or been complicit in torturing sometimes innocent Muslims. But look at those uniquely violent Muslims!

Then you're not listening. Tons of Muslim groups have condemned this and other acts committed by extremist groups.

"They". Painting with an awfully broad brush here.

This sentiment of guilty by association until proven innocent is extremely ugly, xenophobic, and racist. You condemn all Muslims for the actions of all other Muslims. You automatically assume that they support such acts if they do not publicly condemn them. You ignore that many Muslims have publicly condemend them. You do not require any other groups to condemn these acts to escape your suspicion. You do not hold yourself or your in-groups to the same standard. You do not hold yourself or others in your in-groups responsible for the actions of all others in your in-groups or require yourself or others in your in-groups to publicly condemn all bad actions by others in your in-groups.

Do you see the size of the problem when they you represent 1.5 billion 1.7 billion of humanity? I believe the high majority of Muslims Westerners are moderate and peaceful, I believe the high majority will never kill or be a human bomb operate flying killer robots, but I also believe that such silence coming from such large community is scary in many ways. I believe they support the idea of Islamism Western interventionism as a way of life far beyond a religion, as a law, as a culture and as how a country rules their society. The majority will never act on it per say, but one thing is not acting on it and the other is reacting against it. That right there is what is scary

    The silence is just bizarre

I don't know this Kim Gordon woman but if she is a highly acclaimed artist shouldn't it ever pass her mind that some things are escapism? And why does so many people assume that everything LDR do in her Ride video is what she does everyday ?

As Marina and the Diamond's latest album FROOT has leaked, many have heard the song "Better Than That".  It is speculated that Marina sings about a person she used to knowand how low the person has gotten morally.  And that person reportedly is her former friend Ellie Goulding.

THEN, many Diamonds are flooding Ellie's twitter, thus blocking them, thus inciting that Ellie did heard the song and knows that Marina is talking about her.

In all, this event is summarized as "more like Diamonds are dragging Ellie and she blocks them" NuclearHeart
