I love her so much and this album so much but I really hate the high falsetto, it’s my least favourite vocal thing she’s done. I understand why she’s doing it though and this isn’t a criticism bc it’s still gorgeous

idk what I was expecting white dress to sound like but I for sure was not expecting it to sound like this. it really doesn't seem like a single to me and I feel like there are more deserving songs for a music video but that's not to say I don't like it

I haven't listened to the full album yet but so far it is nowhere near as good as NFR. I still really enjoy the songs I've heard though and there's always room for them to grow on me.

I personally love it! It’s what I like the most about her voice, and I also think her voice never sounded better than on this album

But I can totally understand why you don’t like those specific vocals. My mom feels the same way, she prefers Lana’s low notes, but she’s a sucker for low voices in general haha

This is further proof of a deep generational chasm that divides ATRL into two camps; the twentysomething indie sophisticates with 15 to 20 years of top-shelf music consumption to their name, and Dua Lipa stans who decided they liked "folk" music because they liked Taylor Swift's last two albums. It's not that the latter generation is a lost cause entirely, but they've clearly never heard a singer/songwriter at the peak of her powers— that is, they've never encountered an artist like Lana del Rey at her peak on her sixth studio album.

 

The Lana del Rey of "Chemtrails Over the Country Club" is Lana as Lana is intended to sound. She very skillfully vacillates between a range of tones; she is nasally, then guttural, then grainy, then nasally again, then delicate. (And yes, that's how she's supposed to do it.) She's sultry. She's goofy. She's sounds slightly absurd. She's fully engaged. She's expressive in ways that "technically superior" vocalists just aren't. She is brilliant. You have no idea how brilliant she is."
