I KNEW jack was holding Lana back I KNEW IT. The way she had to do the bare minimum for TWO albums cus he was scared of taking risks, and to think we could've been getting heavy drums and electric guitar masterpieces this whole time but instead we got tinny piano songs with no punch and no bass for a solid 3 years straight 3 YEARS STR8..

I think she already started this process on COCC---she sings about lying in her swimming pool with her jewels on and racing her little red sports car, and then in 'DBJAG,' she mentions 'making out in the parking lot.' All of which are poison to the 'Woke' or, as someone else brilliantly put it here, 'the fake Woke people' and the Cancel Cultiure branch of the politically correct.

I, personally, would love more satirical 'pure pop' songs like 'Making Out' and 'Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight,' which I think she does brilliantly, even as I love 'Old Money' and '13 Beaches' and songs like those. I feel she realizes she's bowed to 'the fake Woke people' and Cancel Culture far enough. Maybe she sees they will lay off her somewhat if she kisses their ass, but I think she now realizes they're a bunch of envious, miserable, no-talent trolls who will never, ever support her wholly and genuinely. They're incapable of that.

A reworked version of Making Out would be iconic

Full agree. There's nothing wrong, per se, with talking about 'self-growth' and 'personal evolution'--hopefully we all attempt that while we're young. But it's the wrong kind of thing to talk about publicly and make some kind of case for when you're a musician--it sounds like ass-kissing and virtue signaling--let the songs do the talking or most of the talking, as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Springsteen and so many other great artists of the past have done. For me, Tori Amos drove me absolutely out of Stanhood by her continual political ranting in interviews. The same with R.E.M. They both express themselves terrifically in music, and that's what I'm there for, that's all I'm there for. The same with Rayland Baxter, Will Stewart and others.

My feeling about 'Yosemite' was that, even though there are definite, recognizable seasons in Yosemite the national park, LDR also recognized something there that was timeless and beyond superficial change. Being around a lot of rocks and mountains can do that to you, they can 'speak' that way. I think she related to that timeless quality beyond superficial change.

I think that there's a huge difference between changing toxic traits and changing who you are. Most of people mix those two and go after an unrealistic version of themselves and end up being hurt, depressed or bored.

Lana probably mixed those two and just now realized that she doesn't have to fully change herself to be happy

Think that's exactly right.

"Change" is the last song out of all of the "political" tracks I would be using for that comparison. Not only is it speaking towards something universal beyond being faux woke, it is actually well written and not as corny as.."Coachella - Woodstock in my Mind" or actually inauthentic/faux woke as "When the World Was At War We Kept Dancing."

Anyways, Rock Candy Sweet will be a return to form for the people who loathe Jack.

You can't blacken the pages with Russian poetry and be happy." - Blue Banisters

I asked Asmodeus (the demon of lust) to make Miley Cyrus suffer. I am not happy with these new developments. After Miley rips off Lana's aesthetic, she bullies Lana into changing her release date. It is infuriating.

Love the vocal fry in the chorus when she sings “WILD…” on WAH :trisha: queen of vocal character

By the way, thanks for that, on the way, I'll pray for ya

I like 'WTWWAWWKOD' and 'Change,' but what I don't like about 'Change,' which I've said here before, is how she sings, "people are powerful beins,' instead of 'people are powerful beings.' It's a small thing in the scheme of things, but it grates on my sense of diction, so instead of enjoying the song, I find myself waiting to hear that, and so I usually just skip over the song. A little more production would also have helped, to my way of thinking.

I don't think Jack held her back at all, lol.

She herself said in that Grammy interview that during the making of NFR, she expected the record to be more Venice Bitch-MAC psychedelic etc, but once they were making the rest of the songs, they decided to keep it more of that piano, singer-songwriter laurel canyon vibe, and she thought the two gelled well together.

With COCC, it seems like they were removing sounds/instruments and really highlighting her vocals on purpose, even if she did try to push Jack to go harder and she feels like they could've worked on the overall records sound some more. I've been a studio musician before, and being asked to 'go harder' or whatever is not really a critique or whatever. It's just about making sure everyone is on the right page. Sometimes you go to record something and you think you have an idea of what they want, and then they elaborate and you adjust. Sometimes its 'can you play that more aggressively?' or 'can you improvise' etc.
I really don't think it means that much.

That being said, I still support a Zach Dawes album just because I want to know what it sounds like. Jack is an amazing producer though.

I agree. She said herself she wanted to see how close to the pure structure of a song she could get without a lot of production on top of it, a la '13 Beaches.' I think she succeeded very well on all of COCC.

Who wants to make bets at the next time she or someone on her team teases RCS

I think she might talk about it around the first of next month (maybe she’ll announce it’s an April fools joke :oic2:) but I don’t see anything RCS related in March (I mean, she did JUST drop an album)

That said, with it coming out in a little over two months and her already announcing it, someone is gonna have to talk about it sooner than later :bebe:

I wish she had picked up the phone when Yoanne Lemoine (Woodkid) tried to contact her after directing BTD and BJ mvs and let him produce for her...

Apparently she ghosted him :fabcat:
