sometimes when this thread gets boring, I just like checking in and imagining it being a dining hall room. and ya'll are wasting ur net saliva talking about a man who I now remember as being described as having swamp breath by that other user. and then I just go- something needs to happen headache-cant-deal.gif

I met Jeremy at the boat show, he was wearing white

And I was like “Trump might be in trouble”

I had flashes of the good life

He was like “should I repost this election conspiracy  now or do it on the double?”

Baby if the vote counts aren't true, baby if the dem counts are double

Could be referring to a license she may have got to play the song live - but her cover of "Nature Boy" is now registered on ASCAP

I have no idea where I saw this, but during the discussion of the LDR9 pre-release, I read a rumor that she had recorded a song with a Nature Boy sample, and it was called... NATURE GIRL :brigitte:

There was a lot of information at that time. For example, it was reported that she would re-record SYTH, or rather record another song based on this song (it sounds like shit, but now I believe that it was about The Grants:illumilana:)

What is the craziest rumor about album we have right now? :daydream:

I won’t go deep into it here but mostly the production feels too simplistic, lyrics are overly sentimental and surface-level, leaning into cliches rather than introspective, poetic storytelling. I don’t love the majority of her collabs so Jack being on the song doesn’t help. I know she literally says it’s a simple song but I can’t connect with it like others seem to. It gives me major live laugh love vibes.

I think Margaret would have worked fine without the Jack vocal and without Lana speaking at the end. She seemed to be aiming for 'cute, something we can all relate to, like a cozy rom -com,' but it doesn't work as is. It's too syrupy and JA's vocals and Lana speaking break it up, and it's a short song to begin with.

The melody is nice and I think with better judgement, it would have been a decent Lana song, more in vein of the songs on BB than on OB. As it is, it's like OB's Tomorrow Never Came.

She did say at one point that the lyrics on Lasso/TRPWS were lighter and broader in tone, which does suggest songs like Margaret and Sweet. Maybe that's changed with all the other changed and reconceptions. From what we've heard of Henry, it doesn't sound middle-of-the-road or something that would appeal to a wider swath of listeners a la Margaret. But as we know from Happiness Is A Butterfly, snippets can be deceiving.

My brain reads the acronym “TRPWS” as “throw ups”

I ended up saying ocean boulevard so I’m probs gonna call this ‘the right person’. lol

I feel like chemtrails and lust for life are sister albums (the common denominator being Yosemite) and for me this album will feel like a continuation of that after the optimism post-ocean boulevard

OB is an incredibly heavy album with a lot of unanswered questions about legacy love and life. Maybe we’ll get some answers on this new record and a more optimistic perspective

Looking at the Spotify numbers, it looks like she's finally past her peak, and the release of Henry, whether this year or later, probably won't do much to change that. The album is very late. Unless there's a big surprise (maybe a completely different second single) and something else is planned, I'm afraid it will continue to go downhill (but that won't change the fact that I probably like the album).

Releasing only two songs this year (so far) and not capitalising on her popularity doesn't seem very smart to me, even if there were other important things going on in her private life.
