I'm jealous of americans and other people who can live seemingly normal lives, especially with the numbers of deaths they have. Where I live some haven't seen family or friends since March. I dont think that the topic in question regarding their ability to live "normal lives" during a world pandemic -and inside the most affected country in the world- has to do with them being "american", but with them being extremely wealthy, not belonging to any ethnic minority in particular danger and being able to afford all the goods -both symbolical and material- they need to just keep on with their privileged existences. It's  very unlikely that any of them is facing a terrible financial crisis due to unemployment or poverty, or that they are stressed for not being able to afford sanitary assistance or the means to keep isolated from the layers of population who are truly in danger. Their vital status is absolutely non extrapolable to the one which the absolute majority of americans are facing right now.
