Just like the name - 2023 is near, I am arranging my music library, especially Lana's discography (the artist who takes the MOST space of my hard drive ever)

I've come to realize I don't want to leave her unreleased catalogue as a huge, boring, messy "the Unreleased Collection" no more, so i'm thinking of using her unreleased materials to make bootleg mixtapes/playlist which will contain a small portion of her unreleased songs in a same tone & same time frame (that they were recorded). And I need your help, any suggestion how I can arrange & divide her huge amount of unreleased songs into some concept bootleg albums / mixtapes?

 

What's in my mind right now:

The Revenge of LDR, G.B.A, Do U Luv Me Yet, etc. (using for BTD era outtakes/unreleased)

Tropico/Paradise (w songs like JFK, Starry Eyed, Angels Forever, etc.)

Melancholia (w songs like Your Girl, Yes To Heaven, Cult leader, etc.)

 

Any thoughts guys?

I used to have my unreleased collection split up this way until it became too big that iTunes had issues gathering all of the metadata correctly, so I stuffed everything back into one album. Now, I'll from time to time make playlists or with album songs and their unreleased too that fit in, sometimes its just unreleased stuff that makes sense or matches the tone of other songs (Hawaiian Tropic, St. Tropez, etc)

i don’t have anything lana downloaded right now because i’m perpetually editing my itunes library but usually i have them organized first by album sessions and then the leftovers by sound/vibe

@Sitar awhile ago actually made some really good playlists/compilations and i use those as inspiration

so here’s how it usually is:

- album sessions are tagged as the OG album and i include them as (a) separate disc(s)

- south beach swing (surfy/psychedelic stuff from 2008/2009 - the sequel to AKA)

- daddy issues (the pure pop 2010 stuff)

- miss america (stuff that could fit on BTD but either doesn’t exactly fit the time period or is an outlier)

- vulgar darling (the sadcore darker stuff, still generally focused on 2011/2012)

- melancholia ep (short little collection of UV/HM era tracks that don’t fit neatly into either album)

- champagne sighs (laptop demos that weren’t otherwise included on other stuff)

i don’t usually listen or download demos of songs we already have unless they’re either better than the final imo or if they’re notable for some reason so that’s why i don’t have a dedicated demos album

Yeah idk why but I’m hesitant to use the title of a song on the main album 

No problem pulling titles from lyrics that appear on the main album tho!
