Reminds me how almost all of Mariah's #1 songs (not the one that was actually Boyz2Men that she tagged along with) but almost all when she was

with Tommy M the head of her record company got to #1 by having the physical copy at the registers of themajor record stores for 1Cent and tossed it with the purchase of anything most every  person who bought anything on the week they went for #1 (charts were done different back then, of course there was no streaming, download, etc.

at that time, it was sales and airplay and they coordinated the week singles went for #1 (not necessarily the first week).

 

As said on my other post, two other times that something like this happened, Billboard changed the method overnight and it caused one time Britney from having a #1 album.

 

This will change, unfortunately too late. (Same with what Drake did when Honeymoon came out). there needs to be some sort of new rules applied and some sort of order.

 

What tidal is doing is almost a form of payola as that is company done, not even artist done.
