  1. I think what allowed this was Lana pushing into new territory with her lyrics. Something so bold, upfront and even scary could never settle at the level of previous work Jack had done with her. It demanded something deeper and more powerful.
  2. So many things I could quote but here's a highlight for me, relating to war crimes vs war crimes. 4:40 "Well you say if Hamas fighters are hiding in the hospital, using civilians as human shields ...? Okay, let's say they are. Are you arguing that flattening the hospital, and killing newborn babies in their incubators, and their mom's, cancer patients, someone with a broken leg, the doctors, the nurses, and just the women and kids hiding in the hospital, that that's not a war crime? Because you would be wrong according to international law."
  3. Still can't believe people are doubting the reported death tolls. Every person besides those unidentified or missing is NAMED. There's a list of all of the names published of people who have been killed, with their ages as well. They can count the number of families that have been entirely wiped out. I dare you to scroll through this entire list and tell yourself that you're fine with this many deaths because it is "unintentional". https://www.aljazeera.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/تقرير-نهائي-باسماء-الشهداء-2.pdf That's what I was trying to embed before from instagram- the list narrowed down to only children (under 18). https://www.instagram.com/p/Cy8k3RSgo4D/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng== A lot more deaths in the 3-4 days since this was published too.
  4. Freak / Cult Leader. Not as strongly as Ultraviolence, but it's like Cult Leader took one side and became Ultraviolence (dark), and the other side became Freak (light).
  5. Israeli officials have clearly been preaching that their intent is genocide and wiping out Palestinians as a whole, as the enemy to Israel, and their actions show that they have been doing that successfully. But as soon as they turn to international media they claim that they don't mean to harm civilians, and y'all just believe that.
  6. More on Craig Mokhibers resignation: "Craig Mokhiber is a longtime international human rights lawyer who served as director of the New York Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. His resignation letter has gone viral. In one of his first interviews since leaving his post, Mokhiber tells Democracy Now! the U.N. follows a "different set of rules" when addressing Israel's violations of international law, refusing to utilize its enforcement mechanisms and thus "effectively" acting as "a smokescreen behind which we have seen further and worsening dispossession of Palestinians." He says it is an "open secret inside the halls of the United Nations that the so-called two-state solution is effectively impossible," and calls for international actors to push for a "new paradigm" in the region based on "equality for all." " He worked in his role during 4 other genocides. He knows very well, all too well, that this is the 5th he has seen in his role. I don't understand how people are still not believing it and ignoring it.
  7. There were 2 more pages to Craig Mokhiber's resignation letter that I didn't see
  8. America is entirely complicit in making this genocide seem fine.
  9. The first part of this video details the bible passages that Israel's Prime Minister is referencing. Basically, they are passages about wiping out the enemy in an existential war. Men, women, children, babies, and all the animals they keep too. And 2:12, reading out the intent of former Head of Israel's National Security Council published in the newspaper, which details exactly what has happened so far, as planned, how they cannot win over Hamas without America believing that Israel "has no choice", and how what will happen is comparable to what happened in Pearl Harbor with the atomic bomb. "As a result, Gaza will become a place where no human being can exist". This is a planned extermination. Anyone skipping around the word genocide at this point is completely in denial. You didn't think humans, let alone your own country, are capable of this in modern times? Think again.
  10. you need to remove that "yet" from the first line Ima just assume it's bc English isn't your first language tho
  11. I know this was 12 days ago, but honestly everything he says (besides that one piece of misinformation we all know about now) still stands and is still so urgent, despite no signs of improving. And this from 2 weeks ago. Well worth watching. The Hamas representative skipping around questions and the Israel representative refusing to acknowledge that what they are doing is collective punishment. Just madness.
  12. I don't think that's the point barttttender was making but agreed that Kanye should be left out of everything he tries to talk about as his stance here is just awful and harmful.
  13. Copied from ABC: "Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that Israel would not agree to a cessation of hostilities with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and would press ahead with its plans to wipe out the group. Mr Netanyahu said all wars have unintended civilian casualties and Israel's assault on Gaza, which Hamas controls, was a battle between "civilisation and barbarism", calling on allies to back Israel." Jesus fucking christ. You can't just bomb the entirety of Gaza and be like "these 8000+ deaths are unintended". Also the language they are using is just disgusting.
  14. Yeah this is really exposing a lot. I can only hope Lana is indeed feeling stupid, but to me it looks like she's just paying no attention since the letter. I hope pro-Palestine attention keeps increasing so it hits her when she notices again.
  15. I can't find any graph to visualise the death toll that's been updated in the last 1-2 weeks. People are really not understanding the scale of this. I would really like to see one that has deaths, injuries + the 200 hostages. But in my search I did find this one covering 2008-2020. Sooo many more have died in the last 3 weeks than from the whole of 2008-2020. How can anyone see this and not recognise who the large LARGE majority of the victims are from this conflict.
  16. Exactly, they voted based on "what's in it for me?". I would feel so proud right now to be in a country that is calling out the genocide, like Brazil, Jordan and many others. None of this business bullshit.
  17. "The Australian Government abstained for the simple reason that the resolution refused to acknowledge the culpability of Hamas for starting this crisis. It refused to state that Hamas carried out brutal and unprovoked attacks on Oct 7th". https://youtu.be/UFy24i2E2cc?si=bBAva7VLRYQLsIcy The last 5 Prime Ministers of Australia are also getting together to write a letter to support Israel's right to defend itself too. So, like Australia, other countries who abstained must believe that some kind of reaction is justified, and they are all ignoring who the real victims of these attacks are- innocent people, and mostly women, children. They are ignoring what Israel's attacks are really doing. They may as well just have voted no. I honestly think they saw abstaining from the vote as "the best PR measure".
  18. Yes! Ultraviolence was released during winter in my part of the world, so that + the b&w imagery made many of the songs feel so wintery to me. Especially songs like FMWUTTT, Old Money, Black Beauty and Is This Happiness. But then most of the other songs make most sense in the summer. Cruel World is my go-to summer song because I love it so much it makes me forget how awfully hot it is.
  19. It's so weird. Did they even read what they were voting on? Same to those who abstained to vote. It's so disappointing to want to stay "neutral" or "unsure" like fuck off and do something useful.
