ik IYLDWM is a UV outtake but it reminds me more of NFR for some reason, maybe be the vocal layering? Mainly the chorus, reminds me a bit of California

On the bright side, Lana has the highest user score of all time on Metacritic

im dumbfounded about this record. the parallels of fame, concern and love weave together beautifully. then u think about the multiple uses of diff perspectives prism'ing, how it all feels, what it all means. there's a stillness and vanishing about this album where sometimes it feels sweetly warm, and other times feels like a ghost.

when she was on the tractor in the bb mv singing about her man being there to sort of getting back to reality, that really pained me to see. the waiting in the storm. the flashes of ache from the bellies of uncertainty. the choice of where to go next not being granted to her but being taken into fate's temperamental hands.

the bottomline is that it's a very gracious album that captures the sentiments of someone giving theirselves a voice, keeping the past respectfully protected & filed, that's founded on understanding that we should focus on the things that we can control ourselves rather than wanting to change the world through just our own focus altogether.

it gets me thinking about the soul, what people do and how we do things as a species. how sometimes, consumption consumes us instead of truly adding to our lives, whether that be banked in ego, or translated through recklessness. how popularity reigns in high curved waves bc love is easily accessed and funneled, than cultivating patience and seeing beauty in everyday things. or just the paradoxical nature of better understanding how things were only after being lost.

i think maybe she's feeling real proud of being able to accomplish what she has, but also pretty disheartened bc her message about the importance of reflection and softness got compounded. I understand that it's a very cruel, brutal and dire world out here, it gets me sad thinking about how softness thins out, and everyone's out for the next big thrill. which, for the latter, perfectly ok, but to what end?

and back to the album, how it was made, and what it's about, i think it's a really admirable piece that defends the concepts of freedom, security, and love. it's like a secret code of staying graceful under pressure and moving truthfully to yourself so that maybe others can follow suit their own ways of their higher selves.

I don't get why pre-orders don't count unless the album ships, like if I already gave her my money it should totally count

This album gets better and better with each listen. It really may be my favorite LDR to date. Text Book is such a gripping opener, and each of the following songs goes deeper into her heart and story. I don't care how old the song is, Nectar of the Gods is a masterpiece

For the first time, I cannot choose a favourite song. I have realized that every single song serves such an important purpose on this record, that I feel it is unfair to put them in a hierarchy like that (for myself, personally). There’s such a real merit to this autobiographical edge she’s leaned into, that I know will make it my absolute favourite by far; the writing on it is enough for it to climb to my #1 spot, and the show-stopping vocals and gorgeous, full, pastoral production just drive it all the way home. WOW.

God I wish I was with my father

I think my favorite little tidbit of information we got on the livestream yesterday was that Arcadia was originally written as a poem right after her and Sean broke up. I really hope we get to listen to Lana talk more about the album, there's always so many interesting behind the scenes facts about each one

I remember when COCC dropped it didn't feel like a new Lana album has dropped. It felt like it was just an extension of something, it felt like a little side thing she just dropped. Like NFR lite. This album however truly feels like a new Lana album. Even tho literally Nothing is happening this era promo wise, it just feels like everyone's actually listening and more excited for it than when COCC dropped. I love COCC but I was kinda just like "oh ok this is cute" when it dropped and was mainly just listening to DBJAG and TFJ lol, but when BB leaked dropped I was just constantly listening to it on repeat and I still am.

It’s crazy cause even in a haze Lana’s intelligence always shines through her projects.. it’s always there. I love how this is an ‘album for the critics’ in a sense that she’s not actually trying to ‘get revenge’ or whatever that means.. she’s just being herself and singing about all the things she loves in the ways she loves to sing them. The drugs, affairs, daddy issues, karmic lineage, astrology, submissiveness, strength/being a woman, being free, America, etc... if you noticed Sean, Barrie, Clay and maybe even K or someone in that era...(the dealer lyric insinuates someone from a while ago.. most likely while she was in NYC) and songs embracing being a single woman and embracing family and friends.. it’s really clever. Just undeniably Lana... also not to mention almost every song mentions ‘Blue’ at one point or another... Lana’s just a blue bird.. you can’t take that away from someone.. so I love how she brings it in and turns it out all by herself. She just stopped giving a fuck and I think that’s beautiful !

Dealer music video in the style of Twin Peaks with a guy in a motel trying to reach Lana & taking drugs & starting to hallucinate & seeing lana come in and turn into a 3 headed demon trying to eat him while Miles Kane merges out the wall still behind the wallpaper singing the chorus while little kareoke scenes of them singing in a lounge play every now and then I would like to see it

Violets for Roses is just amazing. One of her best ballad to date. I just love the lyrics here. Even though there are better songs sonically, this is my favourite. It’s sweet, enlightening and definitely something I wholeheartedly relate. Especially the line a simple life, I chose this

I'm sorry but Beautiful and Violets for Roses are her weakest piano ballads... Arcadia and Sweet Carolina are wayyyy better

You know, I was just thinking about how Lana said she couldn’t go home last night because of the paparazzi and had to stay at a hotel.
”I can’t sleep at home tonight, send me a Hilton Hotel…”
