So 9 months ago I shared with you guys my debut mixtape Counterculture and for the most part the reception was really positive (which I really appreciated btw). Now today I have a New EP and you were one of the first people I wanted to share it with because I feel like you actually understand who I am and where I'm coming from and I would love to hear what you think. So just some context on this new EP, 2020 was a tough year for everyone, myself included, and things were starting to look up when I met someone in quarantine. We talked everyday, shared intimate moments with each other and in my head, I thought that what we had was a mutual attraction. I was devastated to learn a little later on though that I was essentially seeing what I wanted to see and I was so starved for intimacy I created a version of this person in my head that didn't exist in real life. 2021 has been even worse for me mental health wise following that realization so this record is about loss and grief and trying to deal with the aftermath of unrequited love. One of my favourite Marina collectors got to meet her today and it made me sooo happy he finally met her after 12 years of being a fan! His collection is insane!
 
 
 

Did anyone here get to meet her today or is preparing to tomorrow? My M&G is tomorrow and I'm sooo excited! I need to think of what I want to say, but I'm sure I'll just word vomit again lol x 

Ariana Grande - She has a couple of songs that I have in my playlists but overall I really don't resonate with her music. And her voice is grating to my ears don't @ me
 
Dua Lipa - ? I just flat out don't like her music. I'm sorry. I do like her voice though! Just not a fan of the production or lyrics in most of the things I've heard, but I desperately would like to enjoy her music. I feel like I'm missing out lol
 
Lorde - I've never been into her sound - ever. I like two or three songs from her debut, her cover of Everybody Wants to Rule the World, and one song from her last album and that's it - and I only enjoy it lyrically. I just can't get into her and tbh I have no ambition to even try to do so  There is something abt her that doesn't sit right with me and I've no idea what it is.

Honestly, I don't even believe that Lana and Marina broke off their relationship. Just drifted apart due to life
 
It's definitely about Jack. There's nothing in the song suggesting that it could be about Lana

if Lana just bought her flowers maybe she wouldn't have unfollowed her on instagram #Larina or w/e

The same way she went from BTD to UV to HM to LFL to NFR and COCC. She contains multitudes 

It's not a shame. She clearly wasn't happy with him. All this mental breakdown with her hair cut, alcohol drinking, psychology course, name change, even visits to Japan to find the meaning of life, let alone flowers fascination, and then desperate songs about happiness on L+F that she herself has admitted now were made because she was failing at trying to be happy. The whole L+F is just her being scared to love Jack and expecting more, but too afraid to say something bad to him, to lose him, etc. etc. Also "there's no heartbreak left to feel, it happened years ago"... And she even replied to a fan on IG during Clean Bandit livestream or something on IG that: What is Love? [CB's album title] "It is when you give and expect nothing in return." Poor thing, Marina. I think it all is really a tragic story. Now she seems in a better mindset and even if not, I hope she finds someone more valuable who makes her feel pure joy in life.

There's a theory that says this song is about Jack cheating on her. And the woman was a girl not really in their lifes, that's why she says that "for her it's just another day", bc for the woman it didn't mean anything, maybe she doesn't know Jack was with Marina

It's beautiful and everything that I hoped for  Definitely reminiscent to The Family Jewels - it's my favorite project of hers so I was absolutely thrilled at the similarities in sound/message, etc. I was a bit afraid it was going to be too "political" but I found it to be a nice balance and was glad there were more personal songs on the record. And GOD I'm in love with Highly Emotional People; it's gonna be on repeat. Pandora's Box is probably my next favorite off of the album - I'm desperate to know who the "Her" is at the end of the first verse
