Glad to see you're still hanging around and highly overestimating the impact your repetitive posts have on other people, Jared. It's a bit concerning that you're so pissy over people not thinking that the album is her absolute best.

I said it before the album came out, and I'll say it again (and many other people have said it, too)- critics shouldn't be lauded as the most important when it comes to opinions about Lana. I'm glad she's not getting dragged through the mud like she had been for most of this decade, but Honeymoon was my favourite album when NFR came out. It still is. And it's still way, way, way too soon to figure out how NFR will sit in her discography and general journey as an artist. It's still too early to say that for LfL in my opinion, but I have a feeling they're much more similar than some here would like to believe.

legit question cuz i've not really been around lanaboards post-release for any other album - is NFR post-release era the messiest and most divisive one yet?? there are so many strong differing opinions on the album. is this a common theme with lana's albums post-release or??

I honestly can't finish the entire song. I get weirded out and feel like it should have ended at least two or three sentences sooner.

domestic small town bliss was always a Lizzy fantasy that never worked out... It sounds like she has hope again and doesn't see herself doomed as the other woman anymore. I hope she finds that true pure love, she deserves it. and motherhood will be the most profound and important love she'll ever experience

The hype around the album died a week or so afterwards. Born To Die literally re-entered the Billboard 200 chart as of today, and is like 50 places in advance to NFR. So much for Lana's "magum opus" uh?

(who's going to tell him that there's world of difference between making subpar music lacking beautiful visuals and being a cheap mainstream commercial "artist"?   )

what is upsetting is seeing the same gifs over and over again, especially those featuring Jackoff, other than that I find you to be pretty harmless

Oof I don't even know how to adress it? We are a fair few that come here and express our thoughts about NFR. 3 isn't so accurate? I'd say around 10-12-ish maybe? On the other hand, coming here and seeing that some user (in that case one in particular) keeps quoting articles he wish he could've written, basically regurgitating other people's thoughts ad nauseam, which couldn't be more ironic.

If your only contribution to a forum it copy-pasting what other people are saying about something in particular and try to pass this as facts. I don't think you have much room to talk about other people's comments or input when you don't have much original thought to throw in the ring yourself. Oh well.

Oh poor Jared. Must be sad to come here and actually see that people are discussing the album and everything Lana from their personal perspective. On the other hand, your only contribution to this community is copy-pasting the circlejerky articles about NFR and trying to pass those as facts, all the while re-posting the same gifs over and over again.

Bold of you to assume that NFR will have the same cultural impact or longevity as Lana's previous albums too, last time I checked Born To Die was actually charting way higher than NFR, I guess that doesn't count, right? I don't see why us questioning the legitimacy of bitter critics that up until LFL had nothing but bullshit to write about Lana, now making a 180 turn to kiss her butt, is considered annoying or repetitive, while you only come here to quote those same sucky critics/reviews?

Get over your sensitive self Jack, I mean Jared. Not every single fan on this forum will have the same level of appreciation for this record as you and other fans do. No one is losing their shit over this, but you.

I see the praise she is receiving these days as « the critics finally caught up to what we already know », in most cases. The tide began shifting for some with UV, but mostly with HM and LFL. They were finally « getting her ». I get the criticisms she received when she first came out, with BTD: she was an alien and one that was so different from the others that they questioned if she was legit (harshly so). The acclaim for NFR just makes me happy that they finally recognize her talent.

So we are going to discredit an era of NFR with amazing songs, and two to three good videos just cause some unreleased iPhone videos and the use of pop art font do not strike your fancy? Okay, boo.

But in the hands of Del Rey and her co-producer Jack Antonoff, America’s cultural, spiritual, and moral bankruptcy sounds like a million bucks. Specifically, it sounds like a million bucks circa 1970, so in 2019, adjusting for inflation, that’d be around six million. Even more specifically, it sounds like a languid Laurel Canyon fever dream, lightly psychedelic folk-rock ballads that got lost on their way to Dennis Wilson’s favorite bar at 4AM and sat down at a piano bench instead. Her voice has never sounded better, and her devastating, allusion-dense lyrics have never been more quotable. With Norman Fucking Rockwell!, Lana Del Rey just might have written the next best American record she’s so obsessed with after all. ‘Cause she knew she could. ‘Cause she’s just that good.
