Do you think Salvatore sounds a bit like it? it's more subtle but I always thought Salvatore was pretty much like the theme tunes of Scarface and the Godfather combined, it has more the pacing of the Godfather and the violin but the beat under it is like a quieter version of the beat of the Scarface theme.

I bought Tupac's Poetry book a couple of weeks ago. Thought I would share some while we wait...
 
Sometimes I Cry
Sometimes when im alone
I cry because im on my own
The tears I cry R bitter and warm
They flow with love but take no form
I cry because my heart is torn
and I find it difficult 2 carry on
If I had an ear 2 confide in
I would cry among my treasured friends
But who do u know that stops that long
to help another carry on
The world moves fast and it would rather pass u bye
than 2 stop and c what makes u cry
Its painful and sad and sometimes I cry
and no one cares about why
 
My Dearest One!!
There R no words 2 express
how much I truly care
So many times I fantasize of
feelings we can share
My heart has never known
the Joy u bring 2 me
As if GOD knew what I wanted
and made u a reality
I'd die 2 hold u or 2 kiss u
or merely to see your face
my stomach quivers my body shivers
and my heart increases pace
2 give me $ or lots of gold
would not be the same 2 me
I prayed and watched the distant stars
and finally u came 2 me!
 
Cupid's Smile II
I ran outside 2 feel the rain
and I stayed outside awhile
When the rain was done along came the sun
and this was Cupid's Smile!
 
The Sun and The Moon
Your ways R similar 2 the rays of the sun
Warm 2 many but 2 strong 4 some
The more u R needed the brighter u shine
Watched 4 2 long and your brilliance will blind
The eyes of mortal men who threaten u with Doom
They regret 2 c u set but it is time 4 the moon
 
Forever and Today
U say that u'll love me forever but what about today
As the dusks become dawns and the years pass on will u love me the same way
If so let us rejoice and bathe in constant pleasure
If not spare my heart today and I shall recover before forever
And if my doubts and ?'s upset u, forgive my fragile heart
I just wanted 2 know if you'd love me forever
Before Today would START!
 
I would also recommend the book if you are one of those fancy people who put books on your coffee table for people just to skim through if they want as its just like 60 or so short poems and they are quite nice, some are political, some are dedicated to people who died or friends of his and other mostly random and about love.  It's called The rose that grew from from the concrete.
 
I've never read any other poetry books, so I dont know if this is normal for them but the left page has it in his handwriting and then the right page is the poem like typed in normal book form (lol), I hope Lana does that also as it's nicer to read the real handwriting for some reason.

Yeah, also if you look up the song, the producer of the song I think worked in the studio it was recorded in and its the only song he ever produced. He must have just been there that day and they got him to do it since he maybe knew what he was doing more than her.

Lyrically, many songs from NFR seem to combine "old Lana storyline" and "present tense Lana storyline".

On MAC: old Lana: the depressed guy thinking she is sad all the time / new Lana: I'm a big time believer that people can change (pretty much the message from Change).

on VB: old Lana: the writer-type mentioned on Is This Happiness, I like diamonds / new Lana: we're getting high now cause we're older.

on HTD: old Lana: John and Jim seem to be old lovers or friends, of her NY era / new Lana: it's been years since i left NY, I now live in California and all.

on Cinnamon: old Lana: the guy takes pills, and violet pills were mentioned on Is This Happiness / new Lana: her plea to hold her without hurting her is really coming from the heart, and seems very "this is what I am feeling at the moment".

There are fires in Cali every year, but there was a huge one this summer. 
Not sure it would be tasteful, to write about that when she lives herself in Cali. But hey, maybe she could find an intelligent and thoughtfull way of putting it into a song.

I'm pretty sure PWYC was recorded in one take and the lyrics were improvised.
