i think Lana has a lot more control in the studio, even or especially with Jack, than people wanna give her credit for.  beginning with NFR and increasing through BB, her songs have included more of a wildness, even a messiness, that's more folky, more raw, than her very much polished early work.  critics derided BTD for being over-produced.  yet with her recent albums, she discusses in her lyrics and interviews her drive towards wildness and freedom, and i think you can really hear it in the music.  when the last three albums first came out, i loved them, but i was a little critical of the difference between them and her prior work.  now, i feel like it's sunk in more, like i finally get it.  she just produces beautiful art naturally, and she's become more real and more intimate/personal in her music and lyrics.  the more time passes since Blue Banisters, the more I appreciate the direction she's been moving in.  it feels so natural, and like she wants to be more natural.  she wants her music to be honest, natural, real, raw, even or especially if that's "messy" or wild.  she expresses being wild a lot.  she talks about wanting to get away from the city, from LA or NY, and explores more small town USA feels, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, more middle America type stuff, going to the mall, doing mundane tasks like washing hair or laundry.  i think it's totally Lana's choice and her own direction taking her to the sound she has now, and tbh I love it.
 

it's honestly tiring to see Jack Antonoff slander atp as if he was not the same dude who helped Lana produced White Dress & Venice Bitch - literally 2 magnum opus art pieces of her catalogue back-to-back.

It's so confusing to me that people blame Jack for ushering in Lana's love of piano. NFR and Chemtrails aren't piano albums at all.

yall can hate on jack/piano/whatever but at the end of the day, what we’re going to end up getting, is what Lana wants to release 

i do not personally complain bout miss del rey working with jack again. they together have made songs like venice FUCKING bitch, tulsa jesus FREAK, mariners apartment complex aka one of best lana songs ever, and white dress. i do not know why yall are talking shit on him when he and lana are a perfect match when it comes to creating beautiful melodies and all. im happy for lana to be working with so many producers on this one. its gonna be a dope shit i can already tell 

Yeah I thought BB proved that Lana is the only one responsible for the simple piano ballads. If you look at the albums he has produced for Taylor, St. Vincent, and Lorde, you can tell that he is capable of switching his sound. 

the jack discourse is so tiring. the man produced the majority of her best album and lana likes working with him. it’s time for y’all to grow up 😭😭😭

Yeah, about that… Not to burst your bubble but… Lana mentioned this in an interview once… Jack stated at least three times that they wanted stripped back / genuine production and that she wanted to go smaller. Love her with all of my heart, but she said so many things that didn’t come through over the years that Jack is more reliable at this point. Plus WFWF is another example of her having her hands on the wheel all the time : it’s a beautiful song, but it didn’t need Mike Fucking Dean if she ended up having a song that her LFL team could have produced.
