I read it as her realising she needs to learn the difference between how someone presents themselves and how they really are. Not just in how they present themselves visually but how they act, how they say they are etc. You need to work to see what someone is really like, but that work can stop you from getting hurt further down the line.

I asked if White Hot Forever was considered a wrong title due to racist connotations, not Chemtrails Over The Country Club. Learn to read please before you act all smug.

Also I am not American so it's not clear to me what is the significance of the country club. I consider chemtrails a psycho conspiracy theory, so it's very likely that I am missing the meaning of the title. Not in the way that you suggested though.

I'm kind of nervous for this album. It could either be iconic and have us going "she snapped" or be slightly boring and lackluster. I have faith in her though.

I love this poem, I think it's the first one of Lana that has really touched me and that I find good.
At the same time it makes me happy and cringe a bit because I have the same relationship with Sylvia (and to a smaller extent, Marilyn) as Lana (as many women do), so it's a bit embarrassing to see myself reflected so well in the poem.
I need to reread Bell Jar because I forgot the part about the leather shoes. I've read it years ago so I only remember the big plot points.
I have high hopes for the whole poetry book assuming it's gonna bring more poems like this one.

What happened to White Hot Forever... didn't love the title but I still liked it more than the Chemtrails one. WTF is this. Is she trolling or trying to be 'political' again?

Am I the only one who interpreted “Norman’s little sister” as just meaning the next album, like they’re all her babies, so the next one would technically be Norman’s little sister, as well as technically all her albums’ little sister too. Idk, that’s how I interpreted it. I didn’t think it meant it was NFR 2.0. But all her albums do seem to carry a little bit of the essence of the previous one while also becoming something totally different and new, so I don’t exactly expect it to be the anti-NFR either.

Do we know for sure that Barrie and Lana knew each other before VG? This is the one part that doesn't fit... sounds to me like he's seen Lana for the first time in the music video.
Not sure how he would have the phone number though...

I keep thinking about this article from 2014 that was prob the truest thing I've ever heard said about Lana: https://www.gigwise.com/photos/91560/

"Almost every interview with Del Rey includes at least one quote that you have to go back over three times because you think you must have misread it. You haven't. These quotes aren't arrogant or obnoxious - they're just... perplexing. Strange. Other-wordly. Never before has a woman so perfectly trod the line between profound and nonsensical."

(Then it talks about her iconic statement that women and tigers can't be in the same room   )

Just read some of this thread and stuff about Lana using several men in one song and I found myself thinking about that when I was listening to Terrence Loves You. And now it as a song feels more interesting because like many of Lana’s songs we can’t be sure who that really is written about but uhm

Does anyone else think that TLY could be a song that's about all of her men? She loses the man and herself along the way and finds another one to distract herself? Like we know that she is really not the type to stay single for a long time and also she has had a lot of if not real boyfriends than at least ‘speculated relations’. And many of her relationships seem to me like they change her, even if just a bit because she puts so much of her heart into them.

“I lost myself when I lost you”
sounds to me like she found a man, she feels brand new with him because you know she herself is sensitive and adapts so well into her mens’ feelings and maybe even copies their characteristics? But then the man is gone, so now she is gone too?

“But you are who you are, I won't change you for anything. When you are crazy, I'll let you be bad. I'll never dare change thee to what you are not”
her men are who they are and she doesn’t put thoughts or efforts into changing them not only because she truly cares for them but also because she finds it easier and more pleasant to just change herself?

“I still got jazz when I’ve got those blues” ‘Jazz' could be an allegory to her true self? Like she still has some of herself left that she feels most connected with whenever she gets the ‘blues’ which could mean the break up? Or ‘jazz’ as in herself, her music and art that is always there and ‘blues’ as men that come and go?

I can see this song could also could also be about Barrie or ‘K’ or Josh or whoever her ‘same goddamn person’ is but this is something I’ve been thinking bout recently. Especially since she has dated Sean.

Or who knows maybe this song is just about alcohol idk

Having the opportunity to have a sleepless night and really re-think about the whole situation and everything that unfolded yesterday was not the best experience. Nevertheless, I think it was somewhat eye-opening.

I still feel as though that the wording was very, veeery, poor and there was absolutely no need for Lana to namedrop any of these successful female artists to make a point, as it actually made it look like she was victimizing herself and that was frankly insensitive to the hardships any and all of the women she mentioned actually went and are still going through. It made her come across as selfish, insensitive and to a certain extent quite ignorant on other important issues.

But, getting passed the first paragraph, I feel like the rest of her letter is actually spot on. She specifically called out female indie writers in her post for the way they treated her and are still treating her today, in regards to the her lyricism and her so called "submissive" image/persona. I don't know if many of you guys have been around since 2011-12, but what she said hit close to the bone to me. Back in those days, these same indie writers they legit made a sport out of hating Lana and making up stories about her to further their narrative that she was this dumb, self-destructive, inauthentic industry plant. Which I think Lana still hasn't let go, regardless of the recent critical acclaim she has received over 'NFR!'. She clearly has harnessed strong resentment towards this specific group of people.

It all definitely came out wrong, but I feel like it comes from a place of personal frustration of being apart of the industry, as it's the first time she actually directly alluded to the whole thing.

Still, I wish Lana had a PR person, this is way too messy even by her so called standards.

And that was my last post on the topic, I've already lost/pissed off enough LanaBoards acquaintances as is. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

    From her therapist's notebook,

Lana: God damn Mom-child, you fucked me so good that I almost said, "I love you".

Therapist: Interesting observation Lana, would you care to elaborate?

i dont know man... the relationship between lana and her mom obviously isnt crystal clear... i fear those fans that involve themselves in lana's personal relationships might start to even harass her mom or something ...

i know thats not lana's fault and she cant control what people do but... seems to me she wanted us to understand how she really feels ab her mother

My unpopular opinion is that NFR is one of my least favorite Lana albums. It's good, don't get me wrong, but most of the songs are sleeper. I've only listened to the whole thing like three times, so maybe it needs time to grow on me. The only songs I really like are Cinnamon girl, Happiness is a butterfly and Doin' Time.
