I'm really happy to see people more critical of Lana's politics though I'm still more bothered by her not addressing her own personal missteps related to racism than her not addressing the racism of others. The argument that people with large platforms should be using them to raise awareness is well taken, but I'm honestly curious why a consensus seems to be forming around Lana having an obligation to raise awareness about this particular issue. Why not Michael Brown, Philando Castile, Walter Scott, Tamir Rice, Eric Harris, Laquan McDonald, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, Terence Crutcher, Ahmaud Arbery, Botham Jean, etc. etc. Why not the oppression of Palestinians in Israel? Kids in cages? Drone killings under Obama? Indefinite detainees rotting in Gitmo without a trial?

There are tweets with 125K+ favorites dragging Lana from today and referring to her coded racism.

Sorry to say, man (or woman, don't know), but if you think that focusing on a matter that has been killing and excluding people for centuries (racism, which Lana, as any other one, can be accomplice of just by not explicitly manifesting against) makes this a "b*** forum", maybe you should look for other place to spend your time. For as long as I've been here, this isn't a celebrity/gossip place, but a platform on which world problematics are discussed frecuently, and I think that is the best thing that could be said about a forum centered on an artist and artists and art in general.

Lana's silence on this is so telling.  Particularly since she seemed very concerned people don't see her as a racist.  Maybe it is more important to not BE a racist than not be SEEN as a racist.  Lana's post didn't start a "race war."  The war has been raging, Lana's been ignoring it, and now it's spilled over into her personal tea.  This would be a great time for Lana to educate herself.

So is Sean Larkin is silent about this? I mean he has more of a moral obligation to say something than LDR, given the nature of his two jobs (the 2nd one especially). On the upside, him not commenting (about how 4 cops were incapable of arresting one unarmed POC, suspected of a non-violent crime, without killing him), should make him much less appealing to her.

I'm interested in the intersectionality of some of these questions. Like I'd love for a way to see how many users are lesbian women, how many of the gay men are white vs. POC, etc. etc.

Would also be kinda morbidly curious how people view the recent Instagram controversy though that could probably be done in a regular thread poll and I also sorta don't want to know how many of you are terrible people thought that shit was acceptable.

This whole situation kind of opened my eyes to how little Lana speaks about issues that don’t directly affect her. Hm...

I don't disagree, and as I said, I would like her to speak out. However, it's possible she feels like she can't take any more criticism right now without crumbling, so she's refraining. To me, she looked utterly defeated in that video.

ETA: her dad seems to know what's up, though

Yes everyone has the right to have discussions about all sorts of topics, and i'm not accusing anyone here of doing that but i just mean in general the problem is just that too often marginalized groups like poc don't even have their viewpoints heard at all because it gets excused by white people. Lana excusing everyone who found a problem with their post as crazy hyper vigilant liberals/trump supporters and people excusing it as just "you don't know how to read right" is an example of that.  Talk WITH marginalized groups but dont talk OVER

And where did I say POC have all the same opinions? Please, please quote where I said that. This whole thread is full of people saying "actually this POC thinking that is racist is wrong" so don't try and come for me because you saw yourself in what I said ;C

White lanaboards members telling people of color their opinions and experiences of racism are wrong and bad, what's new

pls. just because you can't comprehend whats so obviously wrong with lanas posts doesn't mean people who can are going out of their way to get mad. Tons of people who are huge fans of her and want the best for her are mad about the post too. Have you bothered trying to get the other perspective on the matter? if you just look it up on youtube there are tons of black women who take apart the statement, clearly show they comprehend lanas intentions, but point out the problems they find with it

Lana did however claim to have care and support for the black community in her instagram video. if someone has millions of dollars and a huge influence on millions of kids around the world, i just don't buy that you get to do nothing with all your power and still claim you advocate for them

Just because she didn't say word for word BLACK WOMEN CANT BE DELICATE does not mean that it wasn't implicitly suggested

i don't think she'll say anything– she seems really angry and defensive (ie the last video) which makes me think she's not likely to share anything political or vulnerable (though you're right, she should anyway). also, tbh, she has never posted anything about BLM (i don't think) and i hardly see her starting now. i always knew her politics were extremely uninformed and ignorant, but the whole recent debacle really highlighted just how flimsy and narrow they really are.

I'd like her to post something about George Floyd (not for any reasons related to her public image just because I think anyone with big platforms should be raising awareness). But tbh, I hope she takes some time to reflect and understand the valid criticisms her posts received. I don't think she should address it again, but I'd hope in future interviews she's more understanding of why her post received criticism.

Also (stanning aside) it was so corny of her to tell people that had an issue with her post to "fuck off" like girl... you're grown af.
