I know I'm late to this but I'm so so angry. Any song on Midnights does not hold a candle to Fingertips, Kintsugi, DYKTTATUOB, etc. Ocean Boulevard is a generation-defining album and I'm so sick of Lana being belittled by condescending critics who make no effort to understand her artistry. Album of the year is supposedly judged by artistic excellence yet Lana pushed the boundaries with every aspect of this album and is consistently ignored while Taylor made 1989 2.0 and was rewarded. If any other artist besides Miley won AOTY I would've been less upset, but there's absolutely no reason for Taylor to win besides the Grammy's knowing she would announce something and give them more views.
Not only that, but Lana should've 100% won SOTY. A&W is one of if not her best song, and it sweeps every other song that was nominated. I know I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up but literally everyone has begun to recognize Lana as the visionary she is, even Fantano admitted he was wrong about her music, except the Grammys.
Maybe next year Lasso will be nominated and she'll beat out Taylor's new album, but I think she should stop submitting. The Grammys need her, she doesn't need them. The fact that their critics still judge her by her SNL performance shows that they don't care about music.
 

Taylor has probably the biggest fanbase on the planet and knowing that the average person sucks, then statistically it’s not surprising that a lot of her fans suck 

It’s interesting that they came together in the first place. Like I know that they were sitting together but the girlies were doing everything with each other - carpet, glambot etc.

she should've sat with joni. so she would've been with a true music legend and someone who she truly looks up to plus would've remained lowkey

beyond midnights n the others just simply not holding a candle to tunnel, part of why the lana snubs are so devastating is because her music does celebrate the more vulnerable, flawed-yet-fearless side of womanhood that is desperate to be heard but is so often shunned & dismissed in our current zeitgeist. yes i know it's giving #qftc but like her main point there was just valid, sorry not sorry, n her losing only further cements it. to connect with lana’s songs & the stories within them is a gift & is often the only silver lining to otherwise painful memories. her music reminds us that it’s okay to find beauty in the non-ideal, something mainstream feminist “art” seems to be moving further n futher away from
 
'Sweet' esp encapsulated this sort of dissident femininity, like literally WHO ELSE RN is writing a song that essentially starts off with "you broke my heart" & ends in "if you ever want me again, you can come find me, I'll even give you the map & welcome you back with open arms like nothing ever happened"

It's sad she did not win anything yet again after so many nomination and it's disgusting what little idea the voters at the awards have (bringing up a messed up TV performance from 2012 ... wtf) but -
 
Are we actually suprised? If NFR could not make it in 2019, why would an album like OB win now? Especially when up against Ms. Bland Swift?

Lana for me , besides the gorgeous old Hollywood aesthetics, represents people who never really have anything good or easy , always the second place but we keep going because there's no other choice. A victory for her , is a victory for the underdogs.
What they did to her this evening was cruel.

But how many articles, critics and fellow artists have to say she is THE best songwriter of our generation for her to be recognised as such by the academy? Clearly, it's not enough to simply BE that - you need to call people and send gifts and have lunch with various executives and all that shit.
Well, fuck that. I'd much rather she invest her time in doing things that make her happy + making music, than worry about all that shit

This Grammy win is NOT GOOD for her. I’m already seeing think pieces calling HER racist because she won over SZA. Obviously I think Lana should’ve won but oh my god

yeah, her energy was interesting all night, to say the least. I'm sure we'll hear more from her in the not-so-distant future.

I really hope she doesn’t take this as a reflection of what the general public think and knows how wide spread her frustration is  

Someone needs to sculpt a Grammy, smash it, repair it with kintsugi, and give it to her at whichever yeehaw show she's at next

i’m really so heartbroken tonight. obviously its just an award and it’s not that important at the end of the day and i’m also happy for taylor as i do really like her music and even went to the eras tour. but when is the industry going to take lana del rey seriously? she paved the way for so many artists and young creatives today. without her, the music industry wouldnt be the same without her. its just so hard to watch her work her ass off only to get none of the recognition that she so clearly deserves. maybe its insane of me to care this much, but i don’t care. lana birthed a whole generation of artists who constantly praise her and credit her as their biggest inspiration, so why do the floating heads behind the curtain continuously refuse to take her seriously? i don’t know. i’m just really sad.
