I would choose album full of Prettiest Girl in Country Music-like songs over album full of Watercolor Eyes-like songs to be honest.

I'd rather be the real damn thing than the prettiest girl in country music. There's no end to her ability to just write epic one liners. And the story of the song continues proving she has this innate ability to build such great lyrics from things she hears people say. Like when she said the Dennis's last stop before Kokomo line was literally a boyfriend telling her the bar they were in was the last place Dennis Wilson stopped in at before his death. 

I LOOOVE the gravelly and raw tone of Nikki's voice  they sound so good together, this performance was a bit messy but in a really sweet and endearing way, reminds me of when my family get together with their guitars and sing a bunch of songs while totally trashed - like, you can tell its messy, but its cute!! this has me really excited for their work together and I hope this project sees the light of day I really do!!

also im not sure why, but Prettiest Girl in Country Music kinda reminds me of If I Had a Gun by Noel Gallagher!

I knew that when Lana said she wanted to do country, she didn't mean "yeehaw beer in my pick-up truck with my dog and some random blonde women" country, she meant classic country. Like Happiest Girl In The Whole U.S.A or End of The World, which are both songs she covered in the Lizzy days  I have a feeling that if this project is ever released, it'll turn out really well

Ok since this album is out now for a few a months I want to share some general thoughts.
It aged beautifully for me & it has become one of my favourites albums. Maybe my favourite album of hers along with Honeymoon 
Also Honeymoon , Blue Banisters,  Ultraviolence & Chemtrails is my holy quartet 

I can see why the flow might be not perfect for everyone. Thunder would have been a more nicely sonically after VfR & Nectar was sonically a choice after WFWF but I don't mind it actually. I got used to Dealer after VfR (it's somehow iconic when the drums kick in after VfR)  & in Nectar she starts with " What cruel world is this " after she realized how cruel the world is in WFWF. So I can see why Nectar comes after WFWF. Also the beats remind me of some lasers & sth burning & then the oooh intro of Nectar paints a picture in my head of a landscape that got burned & destroyed, like you sit in some ruins, with your head in the hands contemplating about this "cruel " world. I don't know if it makes sense but this is how it is in my head lol.

feeling blessed that God made me a woman so i can't hear any of those super subtle mixing issues but i can see a larger spectrum of colours 

I like it, but I’m a little disappointed that the song she made for Euphoria isn’t better. This is my favorite TV show of all time and Lana is my #2 artist of all time, so it’s a little disappointing that Euphoria didn’t get her best work.
 
Then again, it seems like Lana has a trend of saving her best songs for her albums. Her standalone singles for movies/series have never been as good as the stuff on her albums imo. and also, I’m sure the song will be a lot more powerful in the actual episode than standalone.
 
I’m not going to complain about Lana constantly feeding us, but I wish she would gain more of a focus again. I haven’t been feeling much of her music post-NFR, and it seems like shes choosing quantity over quality. Or maybe the pandemic just fucked me up and I’m the problem, not Lana… idk.

watercolor eyes sounds like a really cute shoujo manga

While drinking coffee this morning I remembered that many countries in the (Western) world use a statue of a man punching a horse in front of their parlaments. Here‘s the one in Vienna:
 


It‘s a reminder to politicians to tame their passion and not let it affect their work. So I guess Lana used it in a similar way where wild horses represent untamed / wild passion and love.
