I wouldn't completely turn away from the thought. Obviously not for a complete album but like the talking she does in MAC. The Ultraviolence bridge. The HBTB ending. Even a short interlude like Burnt Norton.
When she brings spoken words into songs I have found it beautiful, magnetic and touching before. I definitely want a piece of that in COCC.

No I'm one of the people who thought NFR was very safe, but hope is the one song that I thought wasn't. If she made more songs with lyrics like that I'd be super happy. We don't want anything scandalous or BTD 2.0, just something exciting with lyrics that really make you stop for a second and that you will remember. But tbh we've talked about it enough & just have to accept that people have different opinions about the album.

I want a long album (14+ songs) with no more than two singles and a snippet or two before hand

NFR is her safest album and that's why I think the critics liked it so much. For me this album is the equivalent of Lana saying "hey look I'm a good girl!" giving the critics everything they wanted. Of course the album has its moments (I don't think NFR and Hope are 100% safe) but for the most part the album feels too calculated. That being said, NFR is an amazing album and Lana and Jack did a really good work and it deserves all the praise it got, but I hope she goes a different route with COCC.

I think "safe" is a fair critique but it isn't really a complete characterization. I think it comes more from her getting more into her poetry and really being introspective writing the lyrics rather than her trying to create a different version of herself through the record like on BTD and UV. To me LFL is way more safe, pandering to what she thought other people wanted to hear.

We don’t have new info on that, except the codes on her website that were saying that we should be able to preorder COCC who knows when. Somewhere in August, maybe? The rest of July will probably be for Violet.

And let’s not forget it’s her we’re talking about : she has a tendency of posting things once and thinking this is crystal clear (like not saying Sylvia was renamed, posting a snippet of it saying that HIADTFAWLMTH-BIHI is out January 8 or 9, or dropping COCC’s Name, but having us wondering if it was the possible name of the audiobook, which it wasn’t). She already gave us the release date, so I guess she doesn’t see the point of adding anything up until the preorder. August is likely to start teasing the new album. She wanted a small release all along, wanting a « surprise drop ». With Violet out and her minimalist plans, it would be fitting to start teasing the project not very long before its release. I understand what you mean. I reread the posts that some of you put out and your points were valid.It’s true that LFL and NFR and even HM didn’t have much controversy to talk about, unlike the « I wish I was dead already » misquote of the UV era, for example. But I wonder what controversy you would her to sing about (it’s really a genuine question, because the way I see how she is living these days, I wonder what could be controversial enough for her to sing that wouldn’t feel dishonest or forced).

I think she might not say anything about the album before the audiobook is released. It’s a better strategy to talk about one thing at a time. She announced two dates for the book, one for the audiobook and one for the physical edition, both are very important, and a release date for the album would’ve probably taken over everything else.

Do we think she's not gonna promote the album until the audiobook is out? Right now it seems she wants to promote the book first, so by allowing this month to be about the first book, then once most of us have heard it by the end of July, she can start promoting her album in early/mid August, offering some of the bundles on her website as well. That would be a good strategy,
