I don’t get it, there’s condolences across the world about Philips passing, and warm regards about his very long marriage across all media, yet Lana posts about it and eveyone freaks out......am i missing something?

the most empathetic thing we could probably do is just shut up and give it a rest. but on a lana forum, speculation about lana and her relationships will never not happen... idk anyways i think we all love her and care for her a great deal, sometimes insensitivity is just frustrating and you can't stop it

Well, there's nothing that could drag you more than your own post.
Some of these responses really do demonstrate the problem with having a fanbase made up mostly of children.

Idk why but this tweet straight up annoyed the fuck outta me
I know he didn't confirm or deny anything but the good sis Lana is literally posting feet pics on Twitter and posting cryptic captions on everything like sis HAS to be going through something

That clip of the paparazzi asking Barrie if it’s true they broke up and him dismissing it as rumours is still pretty sad tbh. I get that break ups can be messy but dumping him via the press can’t have been the only way to go about that.

The concert in the middle of a pandemic, no masks in sight, an American flag in the background, her forced country accent... my sister done burnt too many bridges and there’s nothing I can do for her now.

Lana Del Rey is currently attending Nikki Lane's surprise Easter Sunday show at Sam's Town Point in Austin, Texas.
During the show, Lana & Nikki performed their duet "Breaking Up Slowly" that appears on Lana's most recent album 'Chemtrails Over the Country Club'
Lana has attended Nikki's other shows in Texas the past few days, and also performed the duet with her on April 2nd at Nikki's show in New Braunfels. At that same show, Lana confirmed that the two are working on a country album to be released.

Agreed. I LOVE IT. There's only one track I don't care for, and I wish she had sung all of 'For Free.'

COCC is 'unshocking,' 'quiet,' 'meditative,' "there's no bangers," nothing as grim as 'Hope' and nothing as experimental (at least for LDR) as VB, LDR did not give it a lot of press support, and it seems to show her moving into a more mature phase of her career. And, on the day after its release, she announces RCS coming out in less than three months. So naturally a great deal of Stans and media people took that fact and ran with it instead of focusing on the just-released COCC.

Someone above said COCC is "fully realized" and I agree 100% with that.

It's also important to keep in mind that Best doesn't always been Favourite. So, you sort of need to look at the list objectively. But pretty much since Hope's release, I've acknowledged that it is technically her best song. That doesn't mean it's necessarily my favourite (it's in my top 20 though) but there's so many elements of the song that really make it a true masterpiece, and nothing less.
It's her best song lyrically - hands down, no contest. Her vocals are incredible. She perfectly executes beautiful high & low notes that display her range. Not many artists can do this in the way she does. The melody is just beautiful and simple enough for anyone to digest, yet not too simple that its boring or forgettable.  The production complements the song just perfectly. I know the production is a reason why some people don't like the song as it comes off a bit too simple or "boring" for some, but the song speaks such volumes on its own - it could have been an acapella track and been just as powerful. For this track, the production enhances rather than defines the song, and that's a true tell sign of a masterpiece song. A heavier production would have just drowned it and took away from its delicacy and specialness.  The song is incredibly emotive. I'm a strong believer that those who don't like hope just haven't been in the situation the song is about. Once you've been in that place - feeling like you've gone crazy and that all hope you had for the world has slipped like sand through your fingers, all the way to the point where you're no longer building a house out of that sand anymore but a house out of rediscovered hope - you understand this song. You become a part of it. I intend to write like a whole essay-post on why this song is her best one day and post it in the Hope thread or something, but for now, those are my brief thoughts x

for me, it's actually difficult to not listen to it. it's a sophisticated record, n a lot more mellow than what we're used to, so w that I can understand that departure. but it's just awfully wholesome. aaannnnnnnd some of ya's might not be ready for that, and that's ok. COCC's a grower

tulsa Jesus freak is so addicting. It gives me shades of purple and giant ritual fires in the middle of the woods. Like she’s conjuring up a spell with her coven idk how to explain it. Am I making sense

White Dress is so ridiculous (in a good way), it completely overshadows the rest of the album. I still can't believe she managed to pack Sun Ra, The White Stripes, Kings of Leon references, and the "down at the men in music business conference" line into one song.

It's definitely interesting hearing where she's coming from and the complex way she perceives things as an artist, especially during this current phase of not being able to reconcile with past criticism of her authenticity and bad experiences with journalists. It actually made a lot of sense when she said it didn't surprise her that critics loved NFR because there "wasn't anything not to like", which is kind of true. That tells me that she knew some of her earlier albums and the way she portrayed of herself would turn some people off as opposed to NFR which was a phenomenal but also very accessible version of Lana Del Rey. Maybe it bothers her that she can receive acclaim so easily by shying away from telling parts of her story that exist in more of a moral grey area like songs about an abusive relationship. I don't think she would have lashed out at Ann Powers (the only serious critic who had some genuine criticism of the album) or posted QFTC if she had come to some sort of resolution over that. I know a few people personally who have a hard time accepting success or approval once they get it because they still haven't reconciled with how isolated they felt before when they weren't being approved. Kind of a "you like me at my most palatable but can't handle the real me" mindset. It seems Lana is still searching for the balance in that.
