okay so I don’t know how to post screenshots on mobile BUT two vinyl stores have said the official release is next Friday (even though google says the 5th which is a Saturday) but they won’t be stocking it and referred me to some place called Piccadilly, who deals with all new releases so I emailed them and they said this:
 
There doesn't seem to be a vinyl release of this record, it may be digital only at the moment. If it was going to be pressed on vinyl we'd definitely be stocking it, so maybe check back in a couple of months.
 
I don’t really know what to think of that 

I don't know. I figured it was just her ending it on her own terms rather than a rebellion if that makes sense? But yeah I totally get that.

There is something lots of people seem to be overlooking. That TJF snippet looked a lot like she was playing around with the mixing herself ... wasn't that console with the sliders in front of her a mixing board? Idk musical equipment at all, though. 
So maybe the purpose of her showing us that was more as a "I'm workin' on it, bitches ..." post and we all got so excited that we overlooked it.
"Let's keep going until we get it."
And then she deleted it because she felt no one got it and that it created an unrealistic expectation because it's not finished. 

I'm trying to work out if the collective meltdown when COCC doesn't come out on September 5th will be worse than the whole NFR '31st March' debacle last year

Maybe when I said “rebellion” it carried a more extreme connotation, because I totally agree with what you said about her ending it on her own terms and that’s exactly what I meant  Not necessarily rebelling, but being more firm in her stance and the Saturday date being a symbol of that , if that makes sense!

I think what you said in the second paragraph kind of points to an act of rebellion, though - the women she mentioned in Question for the Culture sing about the same things as her but get mega sales, chart positions, and promo, etc., according to her, but she doesn't - so her releasing an album on the least conventional day to do so is an act of rebellion. SNL kind of snowballed the general public's negative reception of her so I think it goes hand-in-hand with how your image affects your sales/commercial success, etc.
