I personally don’t like that Freak demo…to me it sounds like there is too much going on
For once I somewhat agree with you, the only stint demo I like is his SYTH (GKIT is okay)

The only demo I truly prefer is Groupie Love. I also like the Summer Bummer one but still prefer the released bc of the additional Lana verse

I didn’t notice anything particularly out of the ordinary. If you’re talking about A&W, I feel like that might be part of the “character” she’s putting on? That’s the only part I’ve noticed anything remotely “weird” but she’s done the same thing for all 3 shows at this point so I think its on purpose

    Nothing against you though

Some demos really are just better than the album versions… like these 3 in particular are often hyped up, and for good reason. I'd definitely feel the same if it was the other way around

I will never not be amazed at how many things start discography arguments  Anyways, I'm one of the odd people that prefers the released versions of a handful of songs we have demos for or that were unreleased and changed for their release (mainly Thunder final version, love her )

So then was she forced to release the entirety of Chemtrails and Blue Banisters, most of Ocean Blvd, NFR, and Honeymoon?

It also just adds to the (extremely annoying) arguments about who’s “taste” is better lmao

you seem to be arguing that the reason why fans may prefer a demo version over a released version is because of some sort of unconscious bias or some sort of psychological effect, i'm sorry but that premise is really silly and at the end of the day it isn't that deep, sometimes people just like what they like, especially if the demo version is quite different from the released version, somebody preferring the demo version of the next best american record doesn't feel that way because they're unconsciously biased, it's because the demo version has qualities that they prefer, we all have unique, individual tastes, and while our tastes may be influenced by a lot of different factors, i just think there's no good reason to psycho-analyze why we like the music we do

And maybe I feel this way because I feel like I personally don’t act that way lol?? Like I’ve listened to thunder and TNBAR way more since they were released than when they were unreleased. The only time an unreleased song gets less plays after it’s released from me is when it’s a living legend/cherry blossom/notg situtation when nothing was changed to it and it’s not great quality so to me it just seems like a made up thing.

somebody preferring a demo version isn't a case of a "syndrome"... they just happen to prefer it, even if you may not understand why, does just simply preferring a demo/different version of a song mean you have some sort of weird psychological reason as to why? just let people like what they like, it isn't that deep

she's only performed three times since she released it, i don't think it's been enough time for us to say she didn't want it released, or that she doesn't like it

There are still unreleased because SYTH was the first one.

We don’t know when the set list was planned. They probably didn’t expect SYTH to blow up the way it did. Let’s be honest here. And her performance has nothing to do with whether she wants things released or not. There’s nothing odd about not performing STYH when the same set list contains White MuSTANK and Arcadia. Half of the set lists are songs that no cares about and the other half are the same songs she’s been performing since 2012.

The fact that she seemed surprised when the fans asked her to perform "Cinnamon Girl" shows how clueless she and her team are about what’s popular and what are fan favorites right now. They don’t have a fucking clue. She seriously need to let go most of the songs that she performed the most and add some fresher picks.

Idk it’s one thing to criticize the lateness, dancers, and even the concept of the show but judging her facial movements and hand movements I think is a little too much. We know she’s still not really confident when she performs and I think that’s just the nerves getting to her

Yeah I can also agree with this, while Lana put herself in that situation, I still think Glastonbury should’ve let her properly end the show

this is truly her best live so far.

This is better than Outside Lands 2016(which was PHENOMENAL). But her voice is stronger, clearer and definitely she's putting alot of emphasis on the vibrato.(?maybe a classical music influence?)

She did switch up the keys on a few songs(when has she not) but overall she sounded really beautiful and confident.

I want the same energy for BST Hyde.

A&W as an intro is solid. Star power.

The hand motions seem to be tied with specific songs.

She's done the same hand movements(like wringing them) for BTD in all 3 concerts.
Maybe it's cuz she's running out of breath due to the long phrasing?
  22. Candy Necklace liked a post in a topic by BoardingSchool in Somerset, ENG @ Glastonbury Festival - June 24th, 2023
I think the hand motions at the very beginning are choreography, since she's done them at multiple festivals now, at the same point in the show (the start of A&W); she doesn't do it sporadically throughout the show. Maybe she is nervous too, but I took it as a sort of "fanning the flames / building excitement" motion...like psyching herself and the crowd up?

I like the dancers when they are used judiciously. I re-watched Molly's solo during UV and it freaks me out in the absolute best way--some of her movements are almost like contortion, but perfectly expressing the darkness and longing of the song. I was super impressed. More of that "interpretive dance complementing the vocals" and less of the "weird props distracting from Lana" (the candelabra were downright silly, like Beauty and the Beast meets Phantom). I think one or two dancers on stage at a time works better; maybe bring out everyone for just a couple of big numbers. I will be so interested to see how the show plays at later festivals, when she's done it several times through and fine-tuned it.
