i actually agree with you completely (contrary to what people think i believe)

i think his work with lana has been extremely disappointing in comparison to works like melodrama, masseduction, daddy's home & dance fever (from what we've heard)

he seems like a nice person and i recognize that he is easy to work with - i just don't really think the result is the amazing masterpieces everyone makes them out to be

listen, he’s a great producer but they cannot make the same album again. three albums of piano driven music? no
he’s proven himself to be able to produce such a variety of music, i hope he pushes her into a different type of sound instead of being so acoustic driven (NFR is excluded cause she was great w great variety)

i don’t think it’s for a spoken word album. she should have behind the iron gates done since it’s been like almost two years since she announced it

I don't think Cola is gone forever. She could just replace that name with another thing and that's it. She also said that she was never going to sing that line in UV and after a couple of shows she started singing it again so I think it was just the pressure of the interview. (Don't get me wrong, it was the right thing to do but I think there are other ways around the problem without retiring that song forever from her setlist)

I don't really think they had a fling, but I think it's a massive stretch to think the song isn't about him. There was also Harvey/Lana rumours way before the #MeToo movement, so I don't think it's even too absurd to think they DID have a fling. But yeah, I'm not familiar with the Harry Winston theory but that line is probably just a reference to 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'.

it’s so weird because literally lana never said anything like that……… she only tried to ‘hide’ her lizzy grant past because she wanted a clean slate for BTD LOL. but almost immediately after BTD she started embracing that era publicly. she even made her pfp on insta a pic from the trailer park set of photos taken by chuck in Honeymoon era.
It appears the main reason she ignored that era was because the public and critics had so much to say about it

it is weird, how Lizzy Grant is regarded as a complete separate person to Lana that died or something. looking at artists like Taylor, Marina, Gaga etc - their past and early adulthood isn’t regarded as ‘Taboo’ like Lana’s is

I don't think this is a misconception at all? She sings his name in the song, and said it's inspired by a Harvey-esque figure. Not to mention, he was seen at her performances around the time period. Harvey personally asked Lana to write songs for Big Eyes (according to Dan Heath), so they absolutely had a personal relationship on some level.

    which is classism!

the tiktok stans would despise me… but that’s alright… i know lanaboards accepts my love for lizzy!

In general people dramatizing her past like that. I once read a comment like "Reminds me of her stripper days" or people thinking she was once a heroin addict (a true heroin addict looks ... different) or my favorite, some fans (especially the newer ones) still believing that the Ride mv is a true story.

They take eeeevery story she tells through her music and videos seriously. The only art form that really tells her story as it is are her poems in my opinion.

Lana said Cola was 'inspired by' a Harvey Weinstein impresario figure, not explicitly about him. Think of it in a simlar way in her music she says that "Bill" and "Jim" are her lovers, but they're not explicitly about any particular Bills and Jims in her life.

honestly when people act like her life in the trailer park was super traumatic, involving drugs, prostitution, etc. it… seems a bit classist  especially since lana’s referenced & mentioned her time at the trailer park occasionally throughout her mainstream career & she always did so with sentiment, i mean, she even included a clip of the trailer park interview for the teaser for the white dress music video, if she was so traumatized, she wouldn’t mention it, i feel like these fans are either not aware that lana’s okay with this period of her life, or they just want to assume the truth when there’s no evidence for it, it’s really annoying & nobody should be considered ignorant or problematic for liking that era

I was typing something similar to this lol. It's so weird when people act as if liking Lizzy Grant content is in someway taboo. They always cite dark lyrics and her living in a trailer park as proof of her being at her "lowest" or whatever. As if the topics she wrote about got any lighter later in her career.

I was thinking about it a few weeks ago. She, of course, sings about tough topics, but the sound makes it easy to listen. BTD is the album I think I listen to most on a daily basis because of its upbeat sound. The sadness feels so natural, it doesn't feel pushed. It just is. It doesn't make me feel numb

I remember that Born to Die (the album) sounded so depressing and sad to me when I first was listening to it. Now, I listen to it, and a lot of it seems rather upbeat or at least mid tempo and not really depressing to me. Like I used to go to the album when I was feeling very down and low energy, and now when I’m down/low energy, if I try to listen to BTD, I’m like, “this shit is too upbeat.”

I think this is either a reflection on how overly positive and upbeat pop music of the early 2010s/late 2000s was that Born to Die sounded super sad and slow in comparison (hello cultural shock/cultural reset that Lana introduced), or the fact that I’ve just become majorly used to sad music to the point where it doesn’t feel sad to me, just comforting.

I feel the same way. I think that BTD is Lana's most upbeat and classically fun (in terms of pop) album, but I remember seeing articles constantly about how her music was so depressing. It really doesn't feel that way anymore and I guess depending on what someone regularly listened to in 2012, it might not have back then

Remember when we found the Chemtrails cover on her website code and we thought it was just a cute bts pic?
I still shudder when I think about it (even though the cover grew on me a lot)

Text Book is one of the best songs she's released these past couple years, deserves the same amount of love & acclaim as songs like MAC, Venice Bitch or White Dress.

i NEED it. i HAVE to have it. i'm going through so much ugly shit, i NEED an unhinged mentally ill dark album to suit the mood and only an album with a one (1) word title will be able to deliver it's true

Probably highly unpopular, but I’ll say it…

so far, with their respective work with Lana…
    Jack > Mike Dean
I like WFWF, especially the last minute of it, but I feel like Lana missed an opportunity with Mike, to let him go way wilder than she let him. I mean, as much as WFWF is good, it doesn’t really scream Mike Dean and could have been produced by the LFL team
