oh my god i listened to Pony for the first time today and i am so obsessed 
my faves are roses are falling, kansas (remembers me now) and big sky. he reminds me of elvis a lot. he’s also hot af 
i love how kansas remembers me now and wildflower wildfire both have that destructive low quality audio ending and i wouldn’t be mad if lana swapped out nikki lane for him on her upcoming country collabs… 
 

we are gonna get 2 albums in a year, probably having a minimum of 21 songs in just a year, who cares in 2/3 of them are unreleased? we're still being HIGHLY fed in terms of music

i think we should concentrate this energy on wanting era-related things more than music-related things. sometimes we just need magazine shoots and interviews, music videos, album trailer, tv performances and different ways of promoting the album and lana staying active with us

let's not forget the version of TNBAR we got was not touched by Jack at all. it literally dates back to early 2017. Jack is not mentioned in the credits and Lana herself referred to the song as TNBAR and said it was about Topanga in July 2017. I'm all for being critical towards Jack's production but the myth that he butchered TNBAR needs to die. because as neither TNBAR nor Yosemite was touched for the albums they ended up on, there's no reason to think Thunder and Cherry Blossom are going to be changed for the worse either

TNBAR was definitely changed for nfr. the music video they shot for it doesn’t really match the nfr version, but matches the demo that leaked before lfl perfectly

same. it's not even just instrumentals or lyrics that bother me about BAR, the whole emotion is different from the demo. i love thunder and i hope it won't happen with it but i still can't really imagine how it would fit with the singles the way it is, maybe it'll be the next HBTB/TJF... i just hope that electric guitar isn't going anywhere

i keep coming back to the three singles and every time they grow on me a little more. TB was an instant favorite, the outro still gives me goosebumps, WW writing is amazing (I've been running on stardust alone for so long / I've been running on star drip IVs for so long ) and the vocals on BB, especially the santa clarita fires part!! i can't help but sing along. so excited for the album

imma sound like a broken cassette player but i love love LOVE TNBAR, like religion i always sing it sarcastically and it just adds a lot of flavor to it. like who doesn't like acting a bit vapidly sarcastic sometimes? thee best 

that n now we have 2 versions of the track to enjoy so i mean im not complaining 

lana is already out of this world and extremely talented. i just wish she would give her art a chance of really shining again with amazing videos, trailers, interviews, etc. since lfl, i havent seen her create a world for her albums. theres no real visual escapism to her music anymore. 
 
i believe this all comes with lana being a much more grounded person these days where she doesnt feel like exaggerating or twisting reality a bit like she may have used to. shes more interested in documenting her life the way it is and making the ordinary beautiful.... although that in of itself is interesting n exciting to see, i really miss being submerged in lanas world. 

It’s bc I dont think Lana’s a businesswoman. She’s first n foremost an artist. I just wish she was a lot more excited bout it w more interviews, and live performances. 
aside from her work, I honestly find her mind real interesting. Maybe bc perhaps a lot of us know what its like to be alienated in some way n that started some resonating, but this and her capacity to truly b a great songwriter; riveting. 
 
The hordes see her as an easy target tho n its sad bc her perspective n quality’s really something else. 

Yeah, it’s definitely hit or miss.  With architecture/bar lanz kinda really changed the vibe of the song, and the demo version just hits a lot harder. Also, the fact that we literally have the music video for the demo version (which is so beautiful - I’m still mad it was given to white mustang), and so it kinda sucks seeing what was supposed to be vs what was actually released
 
I’m super excited thunder is making the cut for the new album, but I do love the demo a lot. the vocal takes, the instrumental, everything - so I am a little scared that she might change some of the things I like so much about it, but idk I have hope

I just got conflicting feelings of her releasing unreleased stuff that we’ve heard before, I feel like in the past for me it’s usually a hit or miss. Like I love Architecture but I don’t vibe that much with the Best American Record. I too quickly get attached to the demo and then feel weird about the new version

The thread has been dry, so I think it could be fun if we talked about what we love & potentially don’t love about the singles/snippets so far! If anyone’s interested, I’ll start with WW (and obviously feel free to share your thoughts or disagreements on my takes as well)!

•Wildflower Wildfire:
 
-Praises: Maybe I’m biased, but I think WW is—lyrically, at least—in my Top 10 Lana tracks. For me, it’s one of the most personal, vulnerable, and poetic songs she’s ever released. I’m still amazed at how gorgeously she delivered such a defiant commitment to never turning into those that “raged” against her. Instead of burning, she chooses to live like a wildflower: surviving and thriving for the sole purpose of simply existing. 

-Criticisms: This is such an excruciatingly minor thought, but I really would have loved if the crackling(?) sound tapered off a little smoother so it didn’t disappear as abruptly. The melody definitely took time to stick with me, but that’s just my very subjective experience with the track.

Lana was done with Chemtrails way before releasing it because of the delays. She had all those songs sitting there doing nothing cause she had to wait for plants to press the vinyls so when she released it she was already in a different headspace writing and recording new music so I don't blame her. 
Also I don't think she has this concept of eras anymore (if she even had it). We're lucky if we get 1 big MV for the new album  but I wouldn't call that lazy. Other than the contractual obligations of her label, she doesn't really have to do anything more than writing and releasing music (and we know that she's the opposite of lazy in that aspect). 
But I agree that it would be more exciting if she used the full potential out of her albums in the visual side (the almost creepy Interview Magazine video and the Chemtrails MV were a step in the right direction but that's all we got cause the other videos were just whatever).
I just keep my expectations low on everything other than the music so when she decides to do anything new I'm more excited
