Isn't it amazing when someone puts actual effort into an era? It makes a lot of difference. It's clear that she's not willing to play the industry game by any means anymore and it's admirable she's sticking to that attitude (as opposed to someone like Lorde who sings about hating California and wanting to be in the wilderness and yet she's in every talk show, doing magazine covers, doing a week-run of performances for James fucking Corden, etc - maybe to compensate the lack of quality of her latest output?). However, she changed the profile pictures of every social media account, put out a music video with an actual concept, did an amazing photoshoot with Neil to complement the album aesthetically speakinh and further expand the universe of Blue Banisters... like, this is the Lana we fell in love with: someone who's passionate about her work and shares it with the world with confidence and attention to detail.

Makes me wonder what went wrong with Chemtrails for her. It's clear she wanted to release it earlier but maybe the delays due to the pandemic made her lose sight of her vision halfway through... hence the lack of promotion and the apparent lack of interest as well.

I mean, that may make sense if Chemtrails wasn’t her best reviewed album of her career and a chart success. Wasn’t it her 5th number 1 album in the Uk tied with Celine Dion? This was all after the events of last year.

Arcadia isn’t really a high buzz track surely? It’s slow, it’s very much what we have seen from her before, the video is basic (though i like it). It will reach the audience that knows she’s doing music but aside from that i can’t imagine it will have cross over appeal.

The song is getting good reviews and the album will no doubt do well.
She’s into a 10 year career very soon, she won’t exactly be catching the same hype she used to. She’s not too far from turning 40 too! She’s 37 next year, she’s not really on younger audiences lips nowadays, they have that Olivera Domingo or whatever it’s called person now.

Lana is an album artist pretty much, with the occasional video/song “taking off”. It’s how most long term careers go pretty much. I wouldn’t invest too much worry into it.

Boz on ATRL (regarding Black Bathing Suit):

Yeah this is intriguing. It's either going to be something completely unexpected from Lana or something in the vein of The Trio interlude. It sounds like a potential highlight I suppose. Unless I'm reading this wrong lol.

Lana is trolling everyone at this point. First Arcadia was supposed to be a piano ballad; then Rick Nowels has credits on Cherry Blossom; then the album was supposed to be digitally released on October 8 but it'll be released along with physicals on October 22. Even Boz is unsure: have the old tracks been rerecorded/remastered/reworked or not? Lol. Now wait till Nikki Lane sings the chorus of Black Bathing Suit accompanied by a mixture of trap beats, trip hop, metal and Hungarian folk.

    1. Idk if she’ll release another one and if she doesn’t release 2. Then I am not interested and can wait until the 22nd

    2. The next one in the tracklist.. I guess Bikini idk what? Tbh I am not paying much attention to “what the next bop is” or how unexpected is the next thing etc… This said the narrative of this album is making this album truly feel like her best. If we take into account what she has said, the things she’s done, and the way she is digging deep within the themes and relating her family/friendships/relationships and using it as a metaphor of her relationship with America, we’re (or at least I am) in for her absolute best album.

idek how this woman’s doing it (I guess that’s what you TRULY call personal growth) but having the first 3 songs tell a story and then jump into wildflower wildfire really makes me VERY curious to fill in the gaps that are going to reveal the entire chronology makes the next song after the first tree (not including the interlude) the most sense as a single.

I am AMAZED at how classily she has addressed QFTC so far with this music.

EDIT: Also as a rookie fan, I am IN AWE with Lana’s ability to not dull out. I am one of those who really appreciates COCC from the first moment it l-worded and really set pace for this coming music. I believe Lana does and puts thought into further than what most of this fanbase says she does. After all we’re talking here about someone who studied some philosophy and metaphysics, and who is in constant search for answers and clarity. Our truly misunderstood genius.

I've honestly never understood the genuine hatred for Nikki. Like sure, BUS isn't my favorite Lana song ever by a long shot, but it wouldn't be even if it was a solo Lana song. And I don't think it's fair to act like Lana never had an interest in country before she met Nikki (have you heard how she pronounces certain words in some of her acoustic demos? Looking @ you Elvis). Nikki seems nice enough and if Lana enjoys her company, that's all that matters to me. I think some people on here are just very anti-country, so they don't like Nikki.

If we get one more single from the album before the release:

    1. What song do you think it will be?
    2. What song do you want it to be?

Doesn't have to be mutually exclusive either

Thunder can be a big alt/rock hit if it's pushed as a single. The melody is infectious and iconic.

Anyway, I have to say that I am very impressed with Drew Erickson's very rich yet subtle production of Arcadia. I should have expected it because his work on Titanic Rising is gorgeous as well. This makes me even more excited for tracks 5-8. Didn't @lustforlife also tell us that there are choir/orchestra and rock elements in the album? And Chuck saying that Sweet Carolina always makes her cry...I think we're in for a ride.

I knew that boz liked the new Thunder version because he tweeted lyrics of the song (and Cherry Blossom's as well) a couple of months ago. So I suppose it's the other 3 outtakes that he really doesn't care for. He said that he's not a fan of Dealer and I suppose Nectar of the Gods lacking a build-up - assuming it hasn't been reworked since 2013 at all - might have irked him too. I'm curious about Living Legend though because apparently that one is the other "old" track which underwent significant changes along with Thunder.

Lol, Spin has finally seen the light!

Boz's description of Thunder is very intriguing. And I suppose @lustforlife was right once again?! He did say that it's more experimental and Boz saying that the song has a slow build-up with more and more instruments added as it progresses sounds very exciting. I trust Zach Dawes!

I think it was Eclipse who said there are some changes in terms of Living Legend's production and lustforlife said that the new version feels more "alive" but the "Lana-as-a-guitar" bridge is the same which is the highlight of the song anyway.

Boz told us that Lana and Barrie had a session earlier this year so they've definitely reworked or written something new together. Drew Erickson is one of the co-writers of If You Lie Down With Me so even if it's an UV outtake it must have been completely reworked with the addition of Erickson. Boz simply said that "well, on second thought this might be an UV outtake that no insider had ever had access to before" but it was just a guess. The fact that this is track 6 while Nectar of the Gods and Cherry Blossom are tracks 12 and 14 and with no Erickson credits makes me think that If You Lie Down With Me is a brand new song. Just a guess.

Anyway, at this point I won't be surprised if Cherry Blossom & Nectar of the Gods do have the same instrumentals and/or lyrics with the leaked demos but they've been rerecorded by Lana. I mean, I don't trust the insiders' take on the tracks after Arcadia's release so perhaps they haven't noticed the subtle differences in the vocals. But yeah it's also very strange that Lana didn't mention Miles Kane at all. He's not just serving back vocals on Dealer lol!
