    I really like Don't let me be misunderstood, all versions especially those of Nina Simone, Santa Esmeralda and Lana of course.
    I think it fits so well with her and her feelings.

    I don't think I've been as excited for any release ever as I am for this album (except maybe Twin Peaks season 3)

    I think American Whore is about the way in which she's been perceived for doing things untraditionally and being branded a whore by the public. The pastor interlude will talk about how it's only God's place to judge, and then Lana will later on the album find herself at peace with the way that she lives her life and take comfort in knowing that God will accept her for exactly how she is.
     
    I wonder if the interlude is just the pastor talking the whole time. I would love if Lana intercuts her own thoughts and has a bit of a dialogue with what he's saying.

    i remember being obsessed with her instantly when video games dropped in late 2011 and wanting more lana. i don’t think she had any other officially released songs at the time except for a few songs on her youtube. can’t believe how long ago that was now!

    Just caught wind of the news that FJM will be on the album! That’s so amazing - a proper duet between them has been a long time coming. 
     
    Given this news, I really would love for this album to be gauzy and jazzy, taking sonic direction from Buddy’s Rendezvous and having a bit of an Amy Winehouse and/or David Lynch influence

    I love that! But also wouldn't mind late fall vibes, like grey, rainy and foggy New York. She would pull off that sound and theme so well with cozy but also thoughtful calm songs like Fordham Road, Chelsea Hotel No.2 or Buddy's Rendezvous. Jazz always fits NY. A black and white theme would be perfect for that.
    Anyway, that's not going to happen but let me dream for a while...
