i'd say she more put the daddy stuff in her music to rest after uv but she worked with rick the most for hm and lfl so i don't think its related at all. if anything i think rick really helped lana usher in her more mature sound & lyrics (maybe it is bc he is so much older than her but it could be a coincidence since she continued this with jack)

am i the only one who thinks its pretty obvious bittersweet anthem is just a mashup of national anthem and bittersweet symphony?

i think she just didn't have time and it was an obvious song to drop from the setlist since it was just a mashup then she ended up changing her setlist after a few shows anyway. i wouldn't read too much into it. if it was a new song, an insider or leaker would've known about it by now. and yeah if it was a new song that she put on the setlist she would've performed it by now

Specially cause it makes no sense to put it in the setlist and never perform it
If it was a brand new song she wanted to debut live she would make sure to sing it at least once or do a little acapella teaser like she did with WC and HM back in the day

how does it make zero sense? the intro to national anthem is almost exactly the same as the instrumental to bittersweet symphony and people have been taking about the similarities between them for over a decade and she's done mashups of her songs with other songs that share similarities before (like cherry & scarborough fair) and national anthem is always a crowd pleaser and bittersweet symphony is a hugely popular song so a mashup of them would be perfect for festivals so its much more likely than it being a random unreleased song that even leakers and insiders have never heard of.

We're just angry that there are people who actually have time to write such mean selfish shit. Some people like that guy who commented forget that she's actually a fucking human with fucking feelings.

umm okay...  I merely don't want her to see stupid mean shit in her comment section. Apart from it being awful for her to read, I also don't want anything to potentially make her deactivate again.

i think everything you said here is completely wrong. just bc lana used older songs doesn't mean she dropped her original concept bc they actually do fit into the concept quite well. no, they weren't written for this record but they didn't fit the records she was making when she made those songs so she put them aside til they did fit a concept. some were leaked but thats irrelevant since they were never officially released til then. its just like how yosemite was written for lust for life but fits chemtrails' concept better or how california and the next best american record fit norman's concept perfectly. and songs like black bathing suit and beautiful weren't outtakes so idk what that's about and they do fit blue banisters' concept if you keep in mind that the concept isn't just about her family, but about her whole life and what's important to her which includes her struggles with the media, not just her family. the album isn't sonically cohesive and can feel a bit messy but it definitely has a clear concept and still feels like a proper album. like when i play the album for non-fans who don't know a the history of the leaked songs and whatnot they don't see the album as a mess or lacking a concept. unpopular opinion but even tho i like ocean blvd more than blue banisters, i'd say blue banisters has a clearer concept and overall theme than ocean blvd.

For me, BB the album seems permanently underrated. While I don't like the title track at all, I love 'Arcadia,' 'BBS,' 'VFR,' 'IYLDWM,' 'TB,' and 'WFWF,' and like 'Sweet Carolina,' 'Dealer,' and 'Beautiful' well enough.

The other four leaked tracks I have liked for years, all of them, though I prefer the '50s'-style version of 'Thunder.'

So that leaves 'The Trio,' which I never play, because I've known the original version for many years and I don't think it does anything for the album.

Instead of basing my like or dislike on album history, facts, knowledge, opinion, or abstraction, I just like the sound of the songs I've said I like above, their message, and, in some cases, their simplicity ('Arcadia, 'VFR), especially because it seems all her albums have tortured or somewhat tortured histories. Maybe we know too much and that gets in the way of our appreciation.

I know I'm way in the minority, but I vastly prefer BB the album to OC the album.

I'm glad you appreciate it and enjoy even the title track; it's the 'Nikki Lane' namedropping part that I don't care for. Like 'Happiness Is a Butterfly,' I was disappointed when I heard the entire song. I also find it very peaceful in many parts. It may not be 'cohesive,' but I find it a lot more cohesive than OC--if that matters at all.

100% agree. This so-called fan can't understand her at all.

I think that's just the message behind the MV (it's obvious from behind the scenes), she's not a robot, she can't always please everyone, and meet everyone's requirements

although i understand why some might not like this mv, it's certainly not bad! i do think it's much different than stuff she has released in the path, but i really like how she went in a different direction with candy necklace. definitely shows how she has changed in her career and life, which reflects ob's message of growth and reframing the past. in my opinion

Somehow I wonder how an artist with so much creative depth, meaning behind the songs and complex themes can have such stupid fans. No offence of course

I get that everybody's joking, but she didn't post 'This was expensive' to mean 'I need to recoup a few hundred dollars from Youtube so go and watch it'; she meant 'we put a lot of money and effort into this. Go and watch it'.
Also, I've never seen a better example of entitlement and 'it's all about MEEEEEEEEEEE' than that comment. I hope they're only 13 years old and grow out of it by 15.

Probably unpopular, but I don’t want a visual album: MV aren’t as huge as they used to be for any artist (even artists who were doing many with each era are now significantly downsizing their number and scope) and labels pretty much don’t know what to do with them, in their promo campaigns. In our constant need of something new, an artist’s era can’t drag on for two years like it used to and having lots of MVs for an era would only do that.

From a Lana POV, let’s all remember how long it took for Tropico to be made  For a visual album to have impact, it needs to be bold and released when the album is out. Plus with her latest comment on IG, I doubt Interscope will allow her to have lots of costly mvs for the next eras  (which is a shame because she served us some of her best mvs in the last two years).

personally i categorize her albums in groupings of 3
    first group:
    aka
    btd
    uv
    second group:
    hm
    lfl
    nfr
    third group:
    cotcc
    bb
    dykttatuob

so i do see the next album as being apart of another era in that sense.
