I get that everybody's joking, but she didn't post 'This was expensive' to mean 'I need to recoup a few hundred dollars from Youtube so go and watch it'; she meant 'we put a lot of money and effort into this. Go and watch it'.

Also, I've never seen a better example of entitlement and 'it's all about MEEEEEEEEEEE' than that comment. I hope they're only 13 years old and grow out of it by 15.

The footage in itself was cute, and she looked stunning, but her "vision" made it hard to watch honestly. Would've been infinitely better with a full "film noir" aesthetic from start to finish and the BTS sequence at the end. It just did not flow well storytelling wise. Also the "people have a short attention span" argument is a bit exaggerated, "Ride" is 10 minutes long, has an intro and an outro, but it has 150+ million views (and I understand that it was released 10 years ago), but that video is cohesive--Candy Necklace, while beautiful, is not.

 

She also dropped the video at the most random time without any promotion whatsoever... I understand that promotion wise she's into the "less is more mindset", but her feeling upset, while valid, seems a bit misplaced. I guess this post is her idea of promoting.

I do agree with you but I also feel like she isn’t actually upset I thought she was just being tongue in cheek bc she likes the video and wants people to watch it, even Taylor Swift gets terrible views on her mvs now lol so I feel like low views are expected

No I feel her, when you make something you're proud of, you want people to watch it. But it's the second time she comments on it. I don't think she's mad, but she might be a lil bitter.

honestly good luck to this woman when the older fans begin to break away from being this focused on the fanbase (not checking for updates constantly/reading the forum/keeping other fans in check) and the newer/tiktok fans become the main people watching for her because comments like that will just get worse… especially as most of them act entitled enough as is..

Sometimes it’s the fans that have been around for 10+ years that act the most entitled tbh.

I think the video just had the wrong timing, and it wasn't for a lead single, so it feels more like an "extra" for fans than something for the general public. Most fans seem to have seen it at least once.

although i understand why some might not like this mv, it's certainly not bad! i do think it's much different than stuff she has released in the path, but i really like how she went in a different direction with candy necklace. definitely shows how she has changed in her career and life, which reflects ob's message of growth and reframing the past. in my opinion

100% agree. This so-called fan can't understand her at all.

 

I think that's just the message behind the MV (it's obvious from behind the scenes), she's not a robot, she can't always please everyone, and meet everyone's requirements

This reminds me of when she was dating Chase Stogel in 2019, then one of her "fans" wrote a comment under his Instagram post that "tell Lana to drink again, we need Ultraviolence 2.0"

Does the views number get higher if you press play again? I think K-pop stans (and they usually know how everything works to a microscopic level) used to say (still say?) that you need to refresh the page, keep the volume up/not muted and clear your cookies for a view to be counted. there’s so much work behind it, I don’t know where they get the energy from, it’s worse than when I was a fan in like 2011 lol
