The only thing I'm getting really worried about is if Tough! has a bifurcated structure like AW.

Imagine 4 mins of soft country and then a shift with Quavo rapping for 2 mins and lana's ad libs.🤦🏻‍♂️

that would infuriate me. Like, just release a straight-up bop, woman, damn it.

I don’t think artists owe it to anyone to be role model or exemplify good behavior. I think art should push boundaries, be brave, and more than anything be authentic to the artist!
So, light up if she wants! My favorite part of Taco Truck is when she yells drop acid let’s go lake placid!

Ideal scenario: we have Henry, Tough, Prettiest girl and 10+ more songs all ready. The album is a cross between country, trap and electronica but blends seamlessly, with Quavo, The Weeknd and Billie on the trap/electronica side, and Nikki, Taylor and Orville Peck on the country side. Production by Antonoff, Cirkut, Luke, Rick and others, all bringing their A game.

Some of the songs are teased until September in the same style as Henry and Tough, with the lead single coming in June, second one in July and third in August. All of the singles eat and at least two chart (Quavo, Taylor?)

The album is released in September and becomes her biggest commercial success since Born to Die. It features a glorious rap country bitch cunty cover with insane fashion by McQueen that eclipses even Beyonce's cover, shot by Neil.

The album gets a 9.5 review on Pitchfork and Fantano fangirls over Lana again saying "Lana has finally done rap/trap right." Ajay cries her heart out and screams "Mother!" 7,000 times while shaking her booty to Quavo.

Do I even wanna think about any other scenarios? Nope.

I don’t mean to rain on y’all’s parade but Lasso has been conceived for the past 5 years, fully during the NFR-COCC-BB days. If I had to bet I’d say the album is exactly what we thought it would be prior to this Quavo thing which honestly strikes me as a very recent change of direction. I don’t think Lasso will be trap infused beyond this song.

I think that she will. Didn't Antonoff mention that he and Lana are heading into a very strange place artistically? Given the acclaim for A&W, I doubt that there won't be at least a few weird/experimental touches.

Yes, the Tammy Wynette/Johnny Cash/Patsy Cline/Nancy Sinatra etc. influence will probably be very strong. She worships and adores these artists, and I'm pretty sure that evoking - and reviving - their soundscape will be one of the key elements of the new album (Lana will adjust the genre to her own sensibilities and style of course). I'm not expecting generic modern country at all. If anything, the "Henry, come on" snippet is serving Ultraviolence outtakes/Sirens/Yayo-esque realness. So a combination of sparse acoustic minimalism and lush 50's/60's country/folk/Americana productions is quite possible and extremely promising, too.

The fact that Lana and Jack have been working on this project for four years is very intriguing; Chemtrails, certain sections of NFR, Ocean Blvd and Blue Banisters feel like a prologue and an early taste of what she wanted to explore and delve into. 2023 must have been an insanely productive year for her; she was in the studio with Jack back in December 2022, recorded many songs in Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi, and, based on what she said on her IG story a week ago, just finished another songwriting section with Luke Laird and is currently recording new songs with Jack in L.A. I haven't seen her so proud and excited about a project since 2018 when she started working with Jack and gave us Mariners and Venice Bitch. I dunno, I have a very good feeling about this! If she plays her cards right, this could be a monumental achievement; she could re-define and re-introduce country and folk music to the general public. And if she does pull this off, it'll be another game-changer.

If she releases songs like in the chorus of Dance Till We Die we're going to be SO well served.

Henry come on is definitely coming to end life lesson, lost at sea, hollywood bowl, snow on the beach, alma mater, suburban house, and take me home country roads

the melody sounds amazing and her voice is beautiful. but um…hopefully this is just the first verse and it builds up to guitar strumming like in unidentified flying bill or earthquakes

but seeing her going back and forth to L4L era these days really warms my heart because L4L is MY favourite era of her, like that feeling of listening to the album in summer 2017 is one thing i will never forget for the rest of my life. I never hated L4L, i will stand by L4L till the day i die. Idgaf if people hate it.

and that vintage futuristic galaxy aesthetic was brilliant and she really pulled it the fuck off. I need her to reuse it. I need a spacey-jazzy, night time shoegaze, psychedelic space-time distorted record

And lets talk about how suitable the retro sci-fi aesthetic is for Lana. I just know she will fuck it up real good. Manifesting something like Lana Del Rey meets Metropolis (1920s) visually
