Blue Skies is lowkey her worst and most useless song

I think she just means simpler songs with a more standard structure and more focused on melodies instead of having the lyrics being the central part of the song.

Maybe something like NFR in the sense that it is insanely well written but it's not that complex lyrically (except Hope).
But to be fair I think there are songs like that in all three of her last albums so we'll see.

I was really impressed and I enjoyed a lot her diaristic and lyrical dense songs like A&W, WFWF, Fingertips (maybe my favorite song by her now) but her strength has always been more about painting pictures and telling stories than convoluted metaphors so I'm really excited.

American songbook style lines with her entrance songs my my, hey hey and simple man.. which could hint to some new elements to the album.. who knows

Just went back and watched the video and there were only like 2 cheers when she announced Lasso. Maybe that is what she was referring to?

imagine not wanting songs on the caliber of Arcadia, Wildflower Wildfire, Thunder, Text Book, Blue Banisters, Black Bathing Suit, Dealer or a cunty moment like fucking Trio The Interlude like could neverrrr be me

Personally I think that going to all of these events, having this "relationship" of sorts with Quavo and simultaneously still stepping foot in the country world is what's probably stopping her from going full country. Come on, she loves Camila's I LUV IT haha. She's full country aesthetics these days but she never really closed the door when it comes to trap and electronic influences so I think Lasso not being fully country as (most likely) initially intended is a reflection of the wide range of experiences and people she gets in touch with. I think we're fully ahead of a LFL 2.0 which is honestly very exciting to me.

I think it stems from the tepid reaction to her announcing Lasso.

We know she makes offhand and seemingly irresponsible remarks in public and to the media all the time. And we know she changes titles, concepts, schedules, and release dates all the time as well. So I think it's fair to say, based on those facts, that we're at a 50-50 situation, but hope makes me think we're closer to a 70-30 situation.

She said recently that she still plans on releasing it this year so I doubt that she scrapped it unless it was a last week decision

I think she just meant that it's not going to be as country as people expected after her initial comments on the record.

At the bare minimum Flipside and Is this happiness should be released on all streaming platforms worldwide and maybe a 6" vinyl like she did with syth and bb

Tbh I feel like the perfect thing to do would be to either rerelease a.k.a with like 10ish side-bs or an Ultraviolence reissue for the 10th anniversary with again like 10 ish new tracks. Ig she could do a stevie nicks and reissue btd and Ultraviolence at the same time but I don't really think that would happen. Anyways either one of those options would be low effort on her and her trams part but would make the fan base extremely happy and hold them over to the eventual release of her next album in September or not

it should just be expected at this point that whenever Lana announces something it will eventually be changed to something else

but for rn i feel like she should drop some fun stand alone tracks (even like a 3 track EP) to keep us fed/until she figures where LASSO is going…

RIP Lasso you would’ve loved the Nikki Lane collab album that never existed

absolutely agreed! if being singular and standing out from mainstream pop is important to her (which, like you, i’m sure it is!) i think now might be a good time to put out a shoegaze, trip hop or acid jazz inspired album, bc i just have this weird feeling that these will be the next major influences in pop music over the next year or two. it would be great if she could get there early and put her own stamp on it before it becomes the next big trend, since she likely feels that now is a little late for a full country album!

There’s no way she canceled the album or changed the genre, like the country theme they did for coachella with a rope, wearing all these country outfits, singing with so many country artists, opening Coachella with a country song, Margaret calling her country queen, henry being produced by a country producer, tough having country lyrics, and her saying she’s going country, all went for nothing?

Which I think it's good because it means she wants to keep doing her own thing, which is exactly why she's one of the GOATs.
I'd go full jazz/electronica/trap if I were her but I'm sure whatever decision she makes will pay off creatively. I just don't see it coming anytime soon. She's now living the things that are probably inspiring her into writing new material.

i think lana is genuinely concerned about looking like a trend hopper (“four major artists announced country albums”) so i think the country thing has probs been shelved for now  which is unfortunate bc i think it would’ve slayed but i’m just excited she’s feeling a bit more playful and melodic for the next record !!

I'm speaking to her on June 7th (exactly 2 weeks from now, yes I'm getting very nervous about it) and I'm going to double down on Lasso questions.

I've never been so upset I don't live in London my whole life (except maybe when she was full-on living in London, but I was too young then to do anything about it)

I'm a bit late to the conversation and other people have provided better explanations but I wanted to share my two cents and say that as soon as I heard say that I thought of the song "Crystal Ship" by The Doors, especially because she has referenced them before in lyrics/poems

Wow, I just love her so much  She is such a classy lady. So humble and sweet, but also very funny and quirky. Watching videos of her like this makes my heart melt. I stan a legend

She’s so humble and disengaged from the politics of pop music currently which I feel is such a breath of fresh air. Considering all she’s been through, the fact she stays celebrating other artists and is so humble is inspiring.
