It’s me, hi  JON BATISTE INTERLUDE #1 STAN
I don’t know there’s something about this interlude that makes me feel like I’m watching a private moment of someone’s life on film. I love so much Lana’s laugh in this and Jon’s singing + the instrumentals might be my favourite of the whole record  I’ve had this interlude on loop all morning

I'm obsessed with this interlude and I don't understand the hate.

I know this song is supposed to be devastating, but the censor sound cracks me up absolutely every time.  I always picture that vomiting glitter gif and then it's over.

It is so funny to me that this song leaked on the day the world was supposed to end

i think she wants jesus to take her out of "this" life (fame, hollywood, etc.) and back to alabama, as in she regrets ever leaving

I was listening to the fabulous Rich Whores recording of Yayo today, and it set me thinking about this song -- I think this is THE definitive Lana song.

It ought to speak to its incredible significance that it's been the ONLY consistent returner throughout nearly the entirety of Lana's career -- it was still new and shaky at the Union Pool show in June '07, and it's since reappeared time and time again, in demos, two studio albums, and live performances ranging from the Lizzy Grant club shows to the stadiums of LA to the Moon.

It's got all the signature Lana lyrical hallmarks: the color blue, bad boys, dependence, trailer parks, escape, hope, drugs, daddies, and a scoop of retro Americana. And, all along, it has changed shape to reflect Lana's current obsessions and styles: it's been an acoustic folk ballad, a heavy metal head-banger, a jazzy torch song, and a spooky, otherworldly laptop demo. It could fit on the kaleidoscopic debut album and the doomy pomp of Paradise just as well as it could slide into the confessional-surf sound of NFR!.

In short, it's everything Lana, with none of the era-specific quirks that restrict or date her other songs -- an absolutely gorgeous anomaly in her catalogue. It's sexy, it's sad, it's wild, it's cinematic, it's timeless.

    I'm in awe of Yayo.

Lana lived in the Manhattan Trailer Court mobile park on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, New Jersey- where there is Tonnelle station- you are a tunnel lined with yellow lights. I bet she saw the lights of the train from her window, and heard the loud noises of the train and the trailer park, dreaming of Jimmy to take her away :')  This belongs in Lanalysis maybe but I'm having FEELINGS okay. Like in the beginning she's being playful, Let me put on a show~ Let me sing for you, she's in love, she's been playing shows, still optimistic about her future.. and then it gets dark, the song wanes .. Let me put on a show~ she's (gogo?) dancing now, she's at a dark point in her career, not seeing any progression after making videos all day and music nonstop. Or maybe she realizes that the love is lost and he's not ever coming to get her. It kind of reminds me of when she sang "End of the World" by Skeeter Davis, how sad she got just singing it.   And the tune is similar.. I wonder if she listened to it a lot while writing Yayo.

It's a song that is reflective of her past but also speaks of her life at the time, imo.  When they were living in California, it took 2 hours to Nevada, it was a happy time, the world seemed new, etc. And now she wants him to take her out of the dark trailer park life because she misses that.  I think she was the one using then, obviously cocaine, and it was fucking w/ her dreams~  thinking of happier times with this guy or the life she wished she could live.

And they are tearing that trailer park down in 2014

"A story about Lizzy selling he earrings in a pawn shop in the Bronx. It's such a strong image of loss and strength in the face of it, and of taking responsibility for our own faults"

i love looking for visual parallels in lana's work with her own and other things, not saying any of these are intentional and some absolutely require large if not absolutely massive stretches of the imagination but i find it really fun to look for things like this! this is obviously limited to ocean blvd related things but absolutely please feel free to post any visual parallels between literally anything

Im kinda nervous for this... the BBC and Lana do not have a good history when it comes to mixing her live performances  can already predict her vocals will be barely audible on the broadcast and people will be dragging her on social media  hoping for the best tho!
