The Independent gave SP a 40 (Ocean Blvd: 80), Gigwise a 60 (Ocean Blvd: 100), SP had a lot of bad ratings: https://www.albumoftheyear.org/album/378462-lorde-solar-power.php

For all those saying the VB part doesn't have impact because it's been like 5 years since its release here's a quote from the Attitude review:

Album closer ‘Taco Truck x VB’ is similarly nervy, incorporating a gnarlier version of Norman Fucking Rockwell! single ‘Venice Bitch’, with all the self-referential confidence of Madonna sampling ‘Vogue’ on ‘Deeper and Deeper’.

Vogue was released in 1990, and Deeper And Deeper in 1992 so let miss Taco be the baddie she is. Periodt

don't give too much to Fantano, he did speak reasonably positively about "the Grants" today, but again not without a condescending undertone saying "by Lana standards".

No matter how many times it's explained to me, I will never understand how Metacritic works

    some random thoughts:
i genuinely think a&w is one of her best songs of all time. it’s a song that i physically can’t get tired of and it still sounds like it came out yesterday and not 5 weeks ago. it’s truly a work of art, i can’t get over it!!! when this album drops, i hope more and more people realize how incredible lana actually is because she definitely lost her spark in the eyes of the gp with her last two albums. i hope this album lures them all back in, because it deserves so much and it’s one of her best work ever. i say this as a hardcore ultraviolence stan (before this album i believed nothing can touch uv), ocean boulevard is her best album. that’s all

Hi, new here. I don't expect to post a lot but I really just wanted to add something positive in the mix.
I've been a fan since 2011 and would never have expected to still be so invested in her by 2023. All her albums have been such amazing entries in her catalogue, it's incredible how prolific she is and how the quality is always up there.
That said, I feel like this new album is her best, and to those who want to dismiss that opinion by saying "Oh that's just initial adrenaline" or something patronizing like that, it's not.
I enjoyed her previous 2 a lot but they didn't match my absolute adoration I had for albums like "BTD", "Honeymoon" and NFR. This one definitely does match those for me. It's such a wonderful journey from beginning till end, it feels like one big warm yet emotional hug and I love the diversity.
I'll post a ranking after I heard the album in full HQ friday, I haven't heard CN yet.
I just wanted to share the love for this album, cause it deserves it.

this has been said to death but A&W's instrumental (especially the first part) is one of her most beautiful everrr  the swelling at "doesn't really REALLY matter" orgasmic. the build up and release before the second verse  literally insane. the xylophone tinks in the third verse  the collapse. and with her melodies overtop DAMN its just soooo good im obsessed

I’m really convinced this is her best most experimental album . I have a lot to say (like walls of texts), but I’ll be saving it for release day.
I’ve not felt this way about an album since BTD I think. Yeah, not even NFR which I love.

Yeah the UK reviews thing was a fucking mess. What the hell. The way her label doesn't respect her craft?  Such an intimate record and they make some improvised listening event with reviewers eating popcorn and taking bathroom breaks. Ugh.

Anyway, "My pastor told me..." is one of the most haunting Lana moments vocally.

“Lana, like Madonna, has become an icon to generations of queer kids. To quote them, she is mother.“
