Here’s a piece of Lily “lost media”. On r/Lilyallenfans I saw a post detailing another ldn video. From my understanding I think they are talking about an alternate edit of the newer 2007 version instead of the first version which was just a time lapse of her going through London on a bike. Detailing that it was more explicit and funny with the “crack whore” line not being censored out and more dark depictions showing up. Now, I decided to go through the old archive of lily’s site and found on the videos section an early post for “ldn (original version)” and I originally brushed it off as being just the first version with the bicycle but the preview image has lead me to believe this might not actually be it as the preview image is her in a very similar outfit to the new ldn video outfit with the triangle earrings. Just wondering if anyone would know of any more details surrounding wether this video actually exists or not as sadly on her website archive the link is to a strange “streaming” site which I don’t know how it even used to work so maybe someone who was on the internet in that time would know what this is?

     - the preview image for the video.

    - the listing for the video on her site (archived 2006)

I agree, but she has made some weird decisions especially in her self-admitted 'sellout era'. like spending so much of her music video budget on radioactive, which she called a promotional single and lowkey irrelevant to the album whilst she was on the promotional press run for the single she should have spent that money on primadonna's mv which is iconic in its own right but as music videos go radioactive's has replay value imo. (also iirc the vinyl mess was a lot of artists at the time, the factory they make vinyls in was seriously backed up on orders & it affected bigger artists than marina)
(this isn't directed at you) but I see a lot of people seemingly act like marina's 'lack of (commercial) success' is 100% atlantic's fault or her management (I saw a lot of people blame jess for L+F when jess managed her during FROOT & came up with the froot of the month idea!) when it's really a combination of factors which includes marina.

Honestly tho since the whole Elon musk thing she’s almost become a parody of herself. Is it to appeal to him? I don’t know

“I started writing this song with my husband Willy after I had just met with Ronnie Spector – my idol from the band The Ronettes. We saw her play a show in the city right after she’d done Glastonbury Festival, 50 years after her first hit – she was my everything! After a 2 hour meeting in a grand hotel uptown, I agreed to try write an EP of original songs for her. She was so kind to me, and I was captured by her memoir detailing her escape from her horrifically abusive marriage to Phil Spector, her producer and also punisher. She barely made it out alive, and moved back to NYC to start her life over… while Phil Spector went on to shoot dead another woman, and remains in prison for murder. Her strength inspired me to write this song, but when I started writing the lyrics I found myself drenched in the truths I had prayed to never face, and I realized it couldn’t be for anyone else but me.”

UM HELLOOOOOO??? I did not know that this happened. Apparently before DIP was conceived , Teddy was commissioned by RONNIE SPECTOR, of THE RONNETTES, to create an EP of original music for her. DIP, fka With The Devil, and PoaF, fka Hands Are Tied are both said to be from this EP that seems to have never worked out.

is there any other songs we might know of that came from this project? If we knew when Black River was recorded I would also suggest it as a good candidate. This is so intriguing to me, and I’m so happy Teddy was literally commissioned by her fav. That’s amazing.

at this point i just think she's difficult to work with and is ungrateful? She always seemed so sweet in person and through these last few years shes shown alot of what shes actually like & it just doesn't seem like someone that's pleasant to work with.

I’m not religious, but as someone who had a grandfather who practiced witchcraft in Puerto Rico, and knowing how seriously Azealia takes it (the chickens in the closet, cat skull), I wouldn’t take the hexing lightly. She showcases daily that she mentally unwell and lord knows what energy she puts out to the world.
speaking things into existence, and manifestation of energy are real things.

someone tell her that there are websites that mix and master songs for free to $100. She should worry about putting out comprehensible, competent music and not hexing people over moronic beef from 70 years ago

part of the reason for her break was family bereavement iirc, she lost her grandmother (the one that sang on fear and loathing) and a great-aunt(?) and her dad got sick too, she was crying on several occasions during the neon nature tour but she was 'stuck' (financially) so she couldn't stop the tour, I think she was a bit traumatised by the whole thing.
like she went from froot being her best moment and 'achieving everything she wanted' and proving herself to all this bereavement.

Marina and Theo Hutchcraft were like a fever dream. But there was something about them that just screams 2011

He was probably the one who didn't give Marina the starring role and who was too proud to say that he made a mistake

honestly whether she’s being marina lieamandis again or she’s telling the truth, I’m surprised after teasing flowers and nature for 2 years straight and receiving monochromatic album visuals with L+F people are still reading that heavily into her posts

I think Froot is also loved for the sentiment. It kinda felt like a full circle moment for Marina and her fans. The roll out of the album was great (with the froot of the month), she made the album on her own, she made peace with no going fully commercial & lyrically Happy is a song that adds to the full circle moment of Marina being in a happier place herself.

Overall I've always ranked the albums like: TFJ > EH > Froot > ADIAMW > L&F
TFJ & EH are musically really really good, putting TFJ is because I personally enjoy the more indie/newwave sound over the full pop.
Froot has some really high peaks with the title track & Happy, but also has some skips (weeds, better than that, gold). The lyrics and music seems to become a bit more basic than her first two albums
ADIAMW has actually less skips but is a little bit on the nose with the lyrics at times. But I don't dislike any of the songs on there.
L&F is just basic pop. Handmade heaven, To be human & End of the earth are nice. The other songs ain't terrible, it's just not on the same level as her other work.

the reason Ancient F Words is much better than L+F is because she started all of it on her laptop, there are laptop or piano demos that she did for all of the songs, yes they sound rough but they have that charm of her earlier work of banging away at the piano and garageband loops - the problem was the lyrics, it went really pretentious on an attempt to be self aware and "political"... but you can see she still got some chops by the specialness of these demos, unlike someone like BANKS who went indie and tried to self produce her entire album to output that garbage snake thing she put out

L+F was trash because she went into studio to write generic love songs started from scratch by a random collection of producers... only a few songs on L+F was made as a laptop demo by her, mainly handmade heaven and soft to be strong, which are two of the strongest songs on the album and most Marina like to no surprises... as long as she keeps her focus on creating songs herself, working mainly with one producer to create a consistent soundscape and finding better lyrical content she will be fine. but i worry about her being independent now... there's a big risk that she will just become more insufferable

You can see the difference living in LA has done to her songwriting. The industry is so close knit it’s crucial she holds onto her roots or she can very easily become homogenized and uninspired. This is why so many artists tend to decline in quality after their first/second record

Why does every pop music forum site have a problem with transphobia lately. this is supposed to be a thread about MARINA but some people just couldn't stop themselves from spewing transphobia.

We definitely do need a Kerlimas!
I lost hope for Made for Loving You, but finding that Cashmere surfaced out of nowhere, maybe there's still a chance? Fingers crossed for a few more songs to surface soon.

she is software, weirdly specific software you need for one thing and it's buggy as hell cause it hasn't been updated since 2016 but you put up with it for that one thing

We'll probably never hear more about it. She shot the entire thing and there was supposed to be a film like she did with Soundtrack 7, but looks like it was canned shortly after.

Been revisiting some some of her early leaks recently

Blank Page, Eye of the Needle (Demo), Freeze You Out, Joy I Call Life, Helium, Light Headed...

Ugh I wish. It's kinda funny how her music used to leak left and right when you had to rip fucking cds but it's been crickets when it shifted to digital (other than full albums leaking before release date).
