still sad that this album might not come out, was hoping she would cover this. considering it's not a standard and it's 'classic' status is questionable, I still think lana's voice would be so amazing on this omg imagine the UV vocals/reverb she could serve

OK SO, I went into this with very low expectations and totalllyyy not in the mood for another dumb 2020 song, if you do 2020 songs you are basic
HOWEVER, I really like this song.... and after a few days it still sounds good!
The number song was also pretty good, though if feels like a shard from the before world now..

Oh yeah don’t get me wrong I can definitely see it from that perspective! but for me personally the attempt usually falls flat, im not sure how to explain it. The Other Woman might be a good example, it ties in extremely well with the themes of UV (it’s p much just Sad Girl conceptually but a cover), but for some reason all i hear is the vocal take and I don’t actually try to read into the lyrics or meaning because i know that it didn’t come from her personally. perhaps that’s a me problem, to me it comes across as her reading from a pre-made script.
Doin’ Time is her best cover to me imo because the lyrics aren’t trying to be overly deep so it’s not as though she’s hijacking somebody else’s story, she’s just singing about having a good time so it’s harder to detach her story from what she’s singing about bc it’s something everyone can relate to
I don’t know if this made any sense lmao im lowkey tipsy (and on lanaboards ) but I tried

Even she she flew private, I think it's no
better than the thousands of celebrities that have been traveling/partying this entire time. It's just less than smart imho.

I can never say what Lana's "best album" is. For me her best is what my vibe is at the current moment! I suppose I prefer it that way. It makes it more fun for me. Lately my mood has been LFL.

i've been afraid to say this on here but yeah imo her best covers are of folk/rock, and if she's doing jazz I think she has to add her own twists to it, which is why I think the Other Woman is her best jazz cover (and the cover itself is not entirely jazz either)

while I love WC I think Brooklyn Baby deserves some, if not more, love as well
I feel like it's not exactly hated on here, but I do wish HIADT got more love too. IMO it's one of the most melancholic, intimate, and lonely songs I've heard in general by any artist that honestly makes me uncomfortable at times (especially because she compares herself to Sylvia Plath, which is a really serious topic regarding mental health tbh). Everything flows so well lyrically and the piano is so minimal that her voice and lyrics as a singer/songwriter are what matter the most. I believe she did not have a song in her discography that was literally just about her sadness-but-not-sadness/depression/dysthymia(?) before HIADT (other than Is This Happiness [underrated as well!!], but that type of sadness is tied to another figure, whereas the sadness of HIADT seemingly stems from within), which maybe is why I'm so drawn to it.

honestly not a big fan of her background singers in summertime and the live lmlylaw performance, i feel like they don't really work with her voice (i thought the audience was singing along in the live lmlylaw performance tbh ) . they're great in thunder though
