She does NOT look like she just made the best American record. She looks like she wants to die.

This won't happen but I want Lana to complete her redemption arc in the general public by triumphantly returning to SNL next month and completely nailing a performance of Love.

I honestly think this is slightly delusional. I don't think the members of Lanaboards (or the messy twitter/instagram fans for that matter) are a very good representation of the average Lana fan. I think it's pretty clear that the majority of Lana's fans are straight girls and I even know plenty of straight guys that enjoy her music. It's true that many of her most passionate and obsessive fans are gay, but that goes for most female artists.

I'll admit that when I first heard the song, I thought about how it'd be cool to see LGBTQ+ people in the music video. I'm not really that bummed out about it, nor can I blame Lana or her team.
 
Based on the information we obtained long prior to the release of "Love", there was a casting call for this video. They did ask for a variety of people, only stating that people with one or two specific hobbies (I believe skateboarding and playing guitar?) were wanted, but that it wasn't necessary to be able to audition.
 
We don't know how much they pushed getting this casting call out there, and we also don't know how many people auditioned. Based on what I understand with casting calls for music videos, and the content of the music video, I am wholly certain that Lana did not really have much of an influence with who landed the audition. She may have told the recruiters/directors she wanted any/everyone, but that's it. None of the scenes I saw physically included Lana with the cast, which would certainly imply that the scenes with the rest of the cast were shot separately, which is common. A lot of people get recruited for music videos and say they never met the artist for the video.
 
That being said, we all know Lana enough to know that if this was something she was absolutely in control over, she would have ensured that the video encompassed the love of all different people. She knows her fanbase. But I truly think that this isn't her fault, and has more to do with whoever was overseeing the casting call. After all, it wasn't Lana that announced that there would be one.
 
It's okay to be a little bummed out that there weren't any LGBTQ+ cast members, it would have been awesome. However, I think that it's important to be mindful about who we appoint as the transgressor, and also try to be open-minded to the fact that none of us have a first-hand account with the directing of the video, and in consequence, it's easy to make assumptions and hyperbolize a situation.
 
So it's fine if any of you want to come to the platform to talk about how you feel underrepresented, your feelings are your feelings, but I think that it's best to convey those feelings without implying that Lana had any sort of influence, or dismissing that Lana knows first-hand how much of her fanbase is comprised of the LGBTQ+ community.
 
And it's also not really anyone's job to entirely backlash at anyone who isn't happy with the video entirely or just some aspects of it, or invalidate their feelings. I do believe that people were in the right to want, or wish, to see LGBTQ+ representation in the video, but I think we can be more comforting, reassuring, and insightful about our opinion when we see that someone's feelings about the video come from an understandable viewpoint.
 
Let's give Lana credit for serving a beautiful music video for her fans, but let that be all we give her credit for; I really believe the casting call had nothing to do with her.

I understand the complaints and everything but, as some people have said already, there's only one actual kiss in the video. I guess you can assume some of the boys/girls that appear together are also straight couples, but I don't think the main focus of the song/video is to portrait love as being in a relationship with someone else, but as a symbol of hope. Lana already pointed to that when she sang the lyrics on instagram as "to feel young and having love in your heart"

I'm not even gay, but when I saw the first couple I was anticipating when there would be a gay couple showing up, like I was 100% sure it was gonna happen. Just my 2cts

YES! She has such a cute smile, I don't want her to look sad/depressed/bored all the time.

I honestly am kinda hoping Lana is smiling for the cover of this album, she has such a gorgeous smile.    Plus it'd be such a nice change from the pout.
