i feel like most people (or at least me) are actually frustrated about the lack of communication between her and the fans during the almost year between the release of the lead singles to the album announcement. she couldve just said she is facing some technical issues or whatever about the release of the album and not leave us all hanging with her posting her random car snippets and selfies instead - and that she definitely could control.

some fans have to wait 13 years for an album (a la tool). a year isn’t a huge wait. she didn’t have to drop anything in the end, or tell us anything until everything was done. we already got six songs (eight if you count filly and the greatest) which is more than we get in a general cycle. and you can tell from the trailer she’s been working on this for a long time. it’s not like the project went dead for months.

true, but for most people we do this because we want to see her succeed, not so she gets a phat cheque$$. if her album does well it’s more likely to get noticed for grammys, awards, etc. i know her getting a #1 doesn’t affect us but it still makes us happy to see her cross that threshold.

 

True and I get it, I'm not listening to the leaks, partly because I do remember the first time I listened to UV, HM, and LFL in order and don't want my NFR memories to be some child recording the cassette on her iphone 2, and partly because I feel really fucking bad that her album got leaked. I don't think she's going to get the number 1 either way, Taylor is going to hold onto that seat for a while lmao, but I agree that it's sad how many times the leaks got downloaded because the people that downloaded them might not be as eager to play songs on repeat with two weeks to play them.

Loads of people. I cut so heavily into my rent savings during those two weeks that when I'll have the rents I need to pay paid before my student loan drops was thrown back by like a month lmao. That's not debt but still. People are demolishing their overdrafts. I saw someone on an fb group say their friend / someone they knew is still in debt from getting tickets for a concert years ago (not for Lana). Sometimes being a fan of an artist really is like being in a cult.

Every time I think about how Chuck took pictures of Lana in front of a fucking wooden wall, cropped her and put her in front of that truck and in that gas station all my brain cells go on shut down mode for one hour and I lose all my will to live.

theres a difference between not releasing music and not having an ongoing era, to starting an era + releasing singles + announcing an album and after that - not releasing and saying anything for long months later.

How can people judge an album by its era. Thats just a fallacy. Y'all sound like those critics that judged lanas music by her image. Be more objective

 

Exactly. Judging an album based on the era makes no sense, they are too separate things. You can feel annoyed with the artist all you want but that has nothing to do with the music. I can imagine how frustrating it is for someone like Lana who wants to do things her own way but society has changed to the point where people expect way too much on social media. She really does belong in a different era, artists didn't have to deal with these ridiculous expectations before and they really shouldn't have to.

 

She's releasing a ton of stuff and it's all amazing. She told us in March she didn't know when the album was coming. That alone should have been enough, but alas here we are months later finally getting the album, and people are still bitching about the "era" ruining the work. Ridiculous.

 

I haven't listened to the leak but from everything I've heard so far it's shaping up to be her best work yet. I also find the lyrics to The Greatest help explain a lot of her behaviour, and the reactions to the era only reinforce all the criticisms she has about today's culture.

 

If it leaks in HQ I'll listen because I already bought it, and if it doesn't then it's coming super soon. I'll just keep listening to The Greatest on repeat until then.

yeah youre totally right, for some reason when i heard debt i instently thought like bankrupt haha i wasnt looking at it like actual 'debt' but now i see what they are saying......., to buy a vinyl i had to cut into my rent too :/ hahah and luckily i won tickets to see lana this tour, otherwise i would have gone into even more debt

I’m hoping she gets new ideas again right as this one releases like she did between UV and HM. Just to have a start on the next project with Jack or someone. Especially with how fast LFA came out, I wouldn’t doubt her doing something else at the same time, given such a short “tour” like Endless Summer

The best part about it is that if she released the album yesterday after the leak she'd probably have more chance of going number 1 then she'll have on the 30th since I don't think there's much competition this week so she might have had enough streams/digital sales as it would only miss 1 day of the tracking week
