Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

I don’t see how anyone can say her writing has improved- hope was the right mix of cheeky modern lines and analysis of herself.
change was inward and hopeful.

blue banisters is just messy-naming people works if it’s one or two at max people-she gave a list- which is messy for people who don’t stalk her family.

Talking about painting a banister blue is just odd and awkward for a beautiful melody-I feel like I’m talking to a deluxe paint specialist.

The BLM line in textbook and the narrative is also weirdly mashed together with her dads longing and the marches.

Didnt we have this discussion yesterday? And the day before? And the day before that? Let it go :awk:

tell me you have no analytical skills without telling me you have no analytical skills.

banisters: something you grab on to for support, to prop you up and to guide you while you climb and descend a staircase, without falling.

blue: usually represents sadness, melancholy. Also represents stability and consistency. I think the latter definition applies here.

green: represents growth, harmony, wealth.

grey: represents balance and neutrality.

“blue banisters”: a consistent, albeit potentially melancholic, support system in her life. A man who only comes in May, and is perhaps absent otherwise.

“And now my banisters are green and grey”: her support system is in harmony, balance, wealth of emotional support. Her sisters who are always surrounding her. Who come to her often to help her paint the blues green and grey.

Lol about your BB comment :lmao:

about the BLM line, here’s my analysis of it, because it took me a long time to see how the line made sense... Text Book is all about daddy issues... and her relationship with Sean was all about that, from an external POV. And he was a cop. Although I don’t think they were still together at that moment of the marches, the song is written as if the cop BF saw, at the marches,  that she was not conservative or racist like him. And it was the breaking point. I could be totally wrong honestly and it’s one of her tougher songs to know what it’s about, but that’s how I explain the BLM line in the context of the song.

I’d love Diamonds And Rust on BB... as long as it’s not Jack producing it. I really love her work with Jack, but his piano melodies are almost never as memorable as Rick’s and his covers are a bit meh.

I hate this tasteless forum :bye3: Yes To Heaven is amazing and it needs to be released. Now is the time. Cherry blossom track 9 Yes to heaven track 10.

I’ve said it many times before in the COCC prerelease era, but if Yes to Heaven fits the overall mood of the album, with a different production, I’d be okay with it, even though I prefer Fine China to YTH.

Can we assume that Sean is/was a racist? That seems like a huge leap. Why would he be attending a BLM rally with her if he was?

Also, look at the way she refers to Old Man River, as if it's a cafe, restaurant or bar, and, indeed, there is an Old Man River bar in Los Angeles. So they were, in the song, at a BLM protest near or outside of the Old Man River bar. Obviously, due to the history of the words 'Old Man River,' we know there's a double meaning to them being used.

On the contrary, I think she and Sean were happy in that moment, perhaps also with other friends, and she wishes she could also have been with her father, or that he could have joined them, because she was proud of herself and Sean, and at that moment, Sean saw who she was in a positive way.

But they've since broken up, as the song makes clear, and so 'old man river keeps rolling, with or without him,' meaning Sean, and, as a father figure, by extension, her father.

for once i agree with you miss delulu, cherry blossom WILL make its iconic official debut on this album as one of her best unreleased melodies ever :oprah3:

and if someone doesn’t like that they can suck it :azealia:
