Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

Many musicans in the recent past and relatively distant past have done the same thing over time---Nico, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Laura Nyro, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Jeff Buckley, Twenty One Pilots and many more. They more or less leave their main or initial fanbase behind.  Some, like Rayland Baxter, go the opposite route--from deep, touching and meaningful songs to pure 'sell out' fluff. 

 

 

i love the new songs yet i definitely don’t want her the pursue that "poetry but make it a song" direction. its a nice change for a song or two, having a more free form approach and so. and i get she loves poetry, good for her. but i honestly couldn’t care less about her poetry. i stan lana for being a musical artist, who makes music, not for being a wannabe poet and i deeply hope it’ll stay that way

I'm all for the poetry but it a song direction. Heck, one of my favourite bands is Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and that's what they've been doing for years. I understand though the approach isn't for every listener.

I don’t see how anyone can say her writing has improved- hope was the right mix of cheeky modern lines and analysis of herself. 
change was inward and hopeful.

 

blue banisters is just messy-naming people works if it’s one or two at max people-she gave a list- which is messy for people who don’t stalk her family.

Talking about painting a banister blue is just odd and awkward for a beautiful melody-I feel like I’m talking to a deluxe paint specialist.

 

The BLM line in textbook and the narrative is also weirdly mashed together with her dads longing and the marches.
