It’s OK!
As much as I enjoy the content Rachel creates, I just disagree with this video (I believe I hadn’t even watched it when I posted it here lol). The comments are even worse lol there was someone accusing Lana of gLoRiYiNg CoNsPiRaCy ThEoRiEs despite COCC and Violet having little in common; the latter mentioning a chemtrail in ONE line

Example: I still can't believe she performed Flipside in Rio after 9 years from its "release".

The new song is absolutely beautiful. Her vocals are gorgeous, and I love the simplicity yet sincerity of the lyrics. Like Rob & Lana’s other music, it evokes emotion.
I also just secured my signed print! I think it’s hilarious how Lana didn’t do any signed promo for her latest album yet is doing some for Rob’s queen x

What i just want to know is...are you a trained singer? A vocal coach? A doctor? An otolaryngologist?
Because if not....I guarantee you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and are not qualified to claim that Lana has a "health related" issue with her voice

Furor Poeticus liked a post in a topic by PARADIXO in Norman Fucking Rockwell - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
To romanticize the concept of the album, it's a casual day in the life of this singer-poet in LA, not necessarily Lana Del Rey the megastar, but really just a Los Angeles citizen witnessing the decay of the American dream... American culture and politics. It's a call out to the weak and abusive men in her life and a rather trippy insight into her mind. One could even argue that sonically it is a day-in-the-life experience, with the title track being early in the morning and Hope being her in bed just before going to sleep.
Norman Fucking Rockwell!
Norman Rockwell is known basically for painting the ultimate American dream imagery.
"Why wait for the best when I could have you"
"Can a girl just do the best she can?"
"Beautful losers"
"I moved to California but it's just a state of mind, it turns out everywhere you go you take yourself, that's not a lie"
"Is it safe to just be who we are? / I would like to think that you would stick around"
"If you hold me without hurting me, you'd be the first who ever did"
"All of the guys tell me lies but you don't, you just crack another beer"
"We were so obsessed with writing the next best American record"
"We didn't know that we had it all, but nobody warns you before the fall / I'm facing the greatest loss of all"
"You don't ever have to be stronger than you really are when you're lying in my arms"
"I'm a modern day woman with a weak constitution"
The lyrics really capture the feeling of a broken dream, ideal or even stereotype, and embracing that. Also the feeling or idea that everything was better before (for some short-minded people she means that America was better before, but no, she's means other more personal stuff) and things are darker now. There's just a huge "fuck it/whatever" feeling through the whole record.
It also adds a certain edge that she put this out at the very end of the decade.

Unpopular opinion but I never understood the hate for ‘girls,’ it always came across to me as critique on society and gender roles rather than anything to do with actual gender… it’s sad to see marina herself turn on it too
edit. i see people say it’s the ultimate ‘I’m not like other girls’ song but I’m positive every girl in western world can relate to at least part of what she’s feeling in this song.

Marina was tongue in cheek and abrasive on her first three records. Her critiques are not picking sides but rather mediating. Look at Sex Yeah lol….. but yeah she kinda turned into the girls she was writing about

Flipside needs a new life. The way it has been left in the dust of Japan is honestly a tragedy, re-release it, it’s too good.

‘Snow on the Beach’: Elusive artistry of Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey - Art, Tyler Wu
https://www.dailycal.org/2022/11/09/midnights
Lauren Harvey credits Lana's writing and production in her review of the first SOTB:
Many have pointed to a notable lack of Del Rey in the track, her voice simply melting into the background. But from the springy introduction to the abrupt octave shifts, the song bears all the marks of her handiwork.
Lana SAID "I would’ve sung the entire second verse if I had known, I was the only feature . . . buttttt my production skills were on point."
Ladies are expected to self-depracate and minimize their contribution . . . so I bolded the quote, above. The credits list Lana as writer, but not producer. Lana is a master arranger. So Lana contributed without insisting she get producer credit. Lana is concerned with making good art foremost. It is not mutually exclusive to make good art and to market it . . . Good stuff resonates! That is how Lana built her career. We fans prefer the good stuff.
This is LDRHoneymoon on twitter where I keep up with Honeymoon IG posts and stories . . .
Lana further obscures her production contribution in the IG post by bundling Chuck's photography tribute in the same sentence. Lana speaks in code. Simple is good. I like Snow on the Beach! Simple lyrics and melody is hard to pull off! After I heard the new SOTB, went back and could pick out Lana's lower register harmonizing on the chorus on the first SOTB. The REAL version will be the live! Can't wait to watch Lana join Taylor on stage!
