To this date she has never performed one of her own songs better. (Edit: me forgetting about Body Electric live, but still)

So remember that idea I shared a few days ago about how I thought Lana should do a short residency in Las Vegas one day?

 

I was talking to one of my audio buddies I have worked with (for live entertainment in Las Vegas) and he said that a short Lana Del Rey residency in Las Vegas would be a draw. 
 

He said that The Coliseum at Caesar’s Palace wouldn’t be a good idea for a performer like Lana, but a venue such as the House of Blues music hall at Mandalay Bay would be great for Lana. 
 

I said that a one month residency (12 shows) would be good but he seemed to suggest that Lana could probably pull off twice that; 12 shows at one point of the year, another 12 shows several months afterwards. 
 

After discussing this, I find myself thinking that maybe this can work out very nicely.

She couldn’t even pull through with her last tour (due to health reasons) and in general she keeps her tours very short (due to release cycles). But in the end she‘s said herself:

Her little dances are cute enough for normal concerts maybe, but nobody would go to a residency to see her clown around with Ashley and Alex, dancing to the same old playlist. It’s too messy. Even the pre-Grammy concert while sonically it was nice, but performance wise it looked like a bore.
Maybe she’ll finally come around for the COTCC tour this time (if there‘ll be a tour, she has the perfect excuse not to) and put some effort in her shows. 
I really don’t see her do residencies, sorry. Lana‘s too impulsive to maintain high quality show after quality show and less so with 12 shows in a month.

I’ve seen Lana in concert ten times and I have enjoyed every single one. She never did a bad show when I saw her.

 

At my job I have done live sound for shows in Las Vegas and a co-worker and I were talking about potential future residencies (artists we would like to see in Vegas one day) and he thought it was a good idea. Lana would not be traveling from city to city this way. That is part of the draw for Vegas residencies. Being on the road is tiring. 

 

At this point I just want to go back to work on the strip. If I got to do live sound for a Lana residency that would be a dream come true. But at this point I’ll be happy doing sound for any show in Las Vegas.

I’ve been revisiting her albums more in anticipation and I have some thoughts:

 

The way she incorporated HBTB’s vocal melody into the intro of Swan Song is so clever and works so well

 

Venice Bitch’s outro literally feels like 3 minutes, it’s so enjoyable

 

The lyrics to Salvatore verge on cringe at some points but she sells it so well... “beatboxing and rapping in the summer rain, like a boss”

Hey, I know it’s just one of those polls on the internet. But Billboard is having an “Army Faceoff” and they have different musical artists paired against one another, Well Lana is vs BTS. I think it would be cool to see her win, And she’s currently a little ahead. Just thought I’d tell you. Good Night.

I'm obsessed with Lana's high notes, like her opera sounding high notes, the whale noises... they're so haunting and eery. I really want her to serve some stargirl vocals or some creepy church choir vocals like the ones she did at the end of i talk to jesus. I still can't believe those are her real vocals btw, i feel like we don't talk about it enough, like that's insane, she sounds so... unreal. Like honestly a proffesional opera singer or something with those notes, her range is unbelievable. She may be the best vocalist I've ever heard, name an artist that can go as low as born to die and as high as stargirl/i talk to jesus .... fuck fuck fuck

That woman has range! to transition between high notes and low notes like that and still have it sound good is talent.
